PAGE 15.Councillors from North Huron Township passed several bylaws during their Dec. 5 meeting regarding relations with Morris- Turnberry, however those bylaws spawned serious discussion among councillors. North Huron Council agreed to share the services of chief buildingofficials (CBO) with Morris-Turnberry, providing a contingencyfor both townships if their respective CBOs are occupied, signed a two- year fire protection agreement and agreed to provide water to several Morris-Turnberry properties nearby the North Huron Morris-Turnberry border. Councillor Bernie Bailey wondered about the latteragreement, stating that North Huronshould consider asking for apercentage of the taxes on the lands in North Huron as a means of building up reserves for water system replacements and repairs. Reeve Neil Vincent informed council that discussions between North Huron and Morris-Turnberry had happened and that Morris- Turnberry’s council was agreeable tothe idea of planning ahead, but hadinstead suggested they set up areserve fund for replacements and repairs to infrastructure provided by North Huron based on usage. Council decided that they would need to discuss that issue with representatives from Morris- Turnberry in a meeting and that they should have that meeting soon. “We have many things we need todiscuss with Morris-Turnberry,”Bailey said. Staff was left with direction to set up a meeting to discuss, among other things, restructuring infrastructure sharing agreements.
