FROM BRUSSELS

Anniversary group meets
The days are ticking on, the
excitement of the season is rising
and lots of things are happening in
this season of love.
The weeks of Advent really do set
the stage for the coming of
Christmas. The first week deals in
hope starting this season of wonder.
Peace is highlighted in week two,
setting up the mood for nice time of
preparation. Week three brings the
word joy, the time of excitement is
building. So in week three we enter
this time of concerts, plays, carols
and planning.
The church choirs in our
community gathered at the
Mennonite Church on Sunday to
sing for the public their songs of the
season.
The joy of friendship is also
acknowledged in this season. The“boys” of the Culture Club invitedtheir better halves to breakfast lastMonday. This was so we could
understand the importance of this
weekly gathering, where all the
events of the world, large and small
are reviewed. So thanks for an
enlightening time.
Catherine (Cardiff) Fuller of
Creemore invited her long-time
friends to her home for their annual
gathering. The lives of the little girls
from Brussels Public Grade 7 from a
few years, oh yes, a few years ago
have continued to grow as they
gather yearly to discuss life and all

A NOTE FROM BETTY
By Jo-Ann McDonald
It has been a week of groups
meeting, committee meetings and
pipe brand practising at the Brussels
Legion Branch. The Cadets met on
Tuesday evening at their normal
time and have a great number of
Cadets in the Corp this year. They
are divided into levels and are
working at their Star Level
requirements. They were tagging in
Brussels last weekend, which is a
fundraiser for the Corps. They are
still collecting pop cans and
returnable bottles as a means to
raise funds for the Corps.
The 140th anniversary committee
Levee sub-committee met on
Tuesday evening also. They are
organizing the entertainment for the
afternoon and it will hopefully be an
entertaining affair. The efforts of the
committee include the brainwaves
of Bob Richmond, Jo-Ann
McDonald, Donna Prior, Mary Ann
Thompson, Dave Stephenson and
Gary Pipe. Mark Jan. 1 on the
calendar to come to the Brussels,
Morris and Grey Community Centre
to kick off the new year and
Brussels’ upcoming 140th birthday.
