(Jim Brown photo) Saugeen Maitland Bantam AA Lightning goaltenders Rebecca Ropp and Morgan Baker were sold in the weekend, each earning a shutout and gaining three points in Lower Lakes League play. Milverton’s Rebecca Ropp garnered the shutout Saturday in a 0- 0 tie with the Bluewater Hawks. The Bolts seemed to be suffering from post-tournament letdown after their previous weekend in Pittsburgh and struggled to generate much offence. However, Ropp held the fort, stopping all shots to gain the Lightning the single point. In Sunday’s road game in Waterloo, the Bolts had more jump in their stride, scoring an early goal to set the tone. Lexi Smith beat the Raven defender one-on-one at the blueline before depositing the puck in the top corner of the net. Cassidy Mason and Maddie Duncan assisted. Ashlee Lawrence scored the second Lightning goal off a Neve VanPelt rebound. Kincardine’s Morgan Baker stopped all Raven attempts, including a flurry of shots at the end of the third period to earn her own shutout. Next weekend’s action includes a double-header in Windsor and a home game in Howick against the Stratford Aces.
