Knights had best float
At the Branch
Branch hosted tourney
It was a wonderful day for a
Christmas Parade in Brussels on
Saturday as the annual Santa Claus
parade made its way through the
village. Participation and floats were
so good the judges had a difficult
decision to make.
Winners of the floats were: most
original float, Holy Knights; best
service club, Agriculture Society;
best commercial, Townsend Tire;
best overall, D & D Glass.
Winners of the colouring contest
were: ages 1-4, Phillip Marks,
Destiny Dunbar; ages 5-8, Brett
McCutcheon, Aliya Dauphin; ages
9-12, Nick McArter, Annie
Greisbach.
Winners of the turkey draw were:
Ava Strome, Candice Schill.
Winners of the day of course were
Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Thank you everyone who helped
make this day special.

It was a very busy week around
the Brussels Legion Branch.
Tuesday had the Cadet Corp meet at
its usual time. The Corp has a large
number of Cadets this year, around
35 attending each week. They
appreciate the pop cans people
donate to them in their fundraising
efforts.
Tuesday evening was the
executive and general meeting for
the Branch. There were seven
members of the executive present.
The Thursday night dart league
had a better week because the lights
stayed on, but had a smaller crowd
of only eight darters. Winners were:
first, Marlene Rutledge and Glenn
Zehr; second, Roger McHardy and
Sandra Josling; first skunk of the
year honours, Bush Whittard and
Greta Zehr; high shot, Glenn, 105;
high start, Roger, 85. Everyone is
welcome to come out for a night of
fun.
The Branch hosted the zone team
darts on Saturday. Play began for
the 13 teams at 11 a.m.
Representing Brussels was team
one – Ron Schmidt, Bob
Richardson, Ken Bird and Dan
Byersbergen, who did not advance.
Team two was Eric Ross, Daisy
Wong, Andy Adams and Cam Ross,
who will advance to District play in
January.
The Saturday afternoon euchre
had nine-and-a-half tables of
players. Winners were: first, George
and Deanna Bacon, 86; second,
Janet Davies and Hazel McGonigle,
76; third, Charlie Shaw and John
Pollard, 70; low, Marjorie Jarmuth
and Doreen Wurdell, 42; lone
hands, Hank Johnston and Earl
McNaughton, five. The last euchre
