Continued from page 3learned about the valuable inventionof the wheel and how this made lives
easier. They have talked about one-
wheeled vehicles (UNIcycles), two-
wheeled vehicles (Bicycle) and
three-wheeled vehicles (TRIcycle).
They have moved onto looking at
four wheels and how they best like
to move in four-wheeled vehicles. In
addition, they have been learning
how to properly form straight line
alphabet letters like L, T and L.
The senior kindergarten class, as
part of anti-bullying week, read the
Aesop fable “The Tortoise and the
Hare” and made a list of the ways
the hare was intimidating towards
the tortoise. They made text-to-self
connections and wrote about times
when they worked long and hard on
a task in order to succeed. They have
been visualizing five frames within
their heads and discovering that theycan do mental math facts to five. They continue to observe the ways
in which the world is different the
closer they get to the season of
winter.
Both classes are very excited
about their part in the Christmas
concert and have started learning the
lyrics of their joined class song. It is
great to have the help of older
students, Chantal and Justin who
play the parts of Mary and Joseph,
as they join them when they
practice.

This week in Grade 3/4, Braedan
Fleming spoke at the Memorial Hall
during the Remembrance Day
service. The class also began
learning about life systems: habitats
and communities in science class.
They have began practising songs
for the Christmas concert duringmusic class.I went around and asked two
students what they did for anti-
bullying week. Sera from Grade 4/5
said they read the book Ant Bully
Then I asked Andrew from Grade
3/4 and he said they read The Secret
Bully and Ian’s Walk Home.

Critter (and kid) Care
Matty (behind) and Casey Bernard visited Cheryl’s Critter
Care during the opening ceremonies for the Brussels
Holiday Passport event on Nov. 17. The two enjoyed some
hot chocolate and found out that since Casey’s dog was
stuffed, it had all the grooming it needs. (Denny Scott photo)
