Novice Rep
Listowel came to Brussels looking
for a win against the Blyth Brussels
Novice Rep team on Nov. 19 but
couldn’t find one as the Novice
squad beat the Cyclones 4-3.
Troy Coultes played another great
game in net.
Goals were scored by Joel
Howson (2) and Bennett Smith (2)
with assists being awarded to Josh
Nixon and Devin Johnston.
Earlier, the Blyth Brussels Novice
Rep team travelled to Wingham on
Nov. 12 and came home with the
team’s second win of the season.
The final score of the game was 6-
3.
Goals were scored by Luke Fritz
(2), Rylee Chalmers, Nixon,
Johnston and Jason Eckert while
Coultes held the Wingham to three
goals.
The Blyth Brussels Novice Rep
Team next takes to the ice against
the Mitchell Meteors on Nov. 26 at
the Brussels, Morris and Grey
Community Centre. The action
starts at 8 a.m.
Novice Local League
On Nov. 13 Blyth Brussels Novice
Local League team travelled to
Clinton to play BCH. In the first
period Blyth Brussels got on the
scoreboard with Mitchell Townsend
putting one past the goalie assisted
by Jeffery Walden. In the second
period Blyth Brussels managed to
put two in the net by Jeffery Walden
unassisted and Mitchell Townsend
assisted by Braidon Abell-Rinn.
Blyth Brussels won the game with
great scoring chances from Colton
Beaven, Bailey Coles, Alyia
Dauphin, Kennedy Huether, Kalan
McNichol, Griffin Marshall, Braden
Radford, Liam Shortreed, Paige
Willie and Joel Nesbit. Playing his
heart out, making great saves and
getting his second shutout of the
year was Tyler McNichol.
On Nov. 17 the team travelled to
Wingham to fall short by one goal
but there were many chances to tie it
up.
On Sunday, Nov. 20 the team
travelled to Goderich to come out
with a 2-0 loss.
Atom Rep
The Blyth Brussels Atom Reps
travelled to the new Central Huron
Community Complex on Nov. 19 to
take on the BCH Ice Dogs.
In the first minute of the game
Bailey Bos found Jacob Gulutzen in
front of the net to take an early lead.
Both teams kept the game going
back and forth and in the last
two minutes of the first BCH tied it
up.
The second period saw both teams
getting their chances. Late in the
period Bos found Wade Machan in
front of the net who put one home to
retake the lead. Nine seconds later
Ethan Scrimgeour made it 3-1 on a
pass from Colin Howson.
BCH started the scoring in the
third closing the gap to 3-2.
Howson then set up Bos for one
more. The Ice Dogs managed tosneak one through the pipes late inthe period, but it still left them shortas the Atoms held on for a 4-3 win.
The Atoms next face the Drayton
Defenders at the Brussels, Morris
and Grey Community Centre on
Nov. 26. Having previously been
bested by the Defenders in a close 2-
1 loss, the game is sure to be
exciting. The action starts at 11 a.m.
PeeWee Girls 2
The Blyth Brussels PeeWee Girls
2 team had a strong start to their
season, but have dropped three of
their four games since then.
Recently, they lost to the
Kincardine Kinucks 7-3 while on
the road on Nov. 19.
Nov. 1 saw the girls get edged out
by the TCDMHA Rebels 3-2 and, in
their home opener, the Kincardine
Kinucks beat the PeeWee Girls 2
team 4-2.
The girls opened their season with
a 7-0 win over the Walkerton
Capitals on the road. Many girls had
opportunities to score with a couple
of girls getting a goal for the first
time of their hockey careers.
The girls next take to the ice on
Dec. 3, welcoming the Walkerton
Capitals for a rematch at the Blyth
and District Community Centre.
The puck drops at 12:30 p.m.
Bantam Girls
A big third period helped the
Blyth Brussels Bantam Girls team
pull out a 5-3 win against
Kincardine after their opponents had
made it interesting by tying up the
Nov. 16 game in the second period.
Leading the way with a hattrick
was Ashley Higgins and singles
were scored byMackenzie Nesbitt
and Tiffany Deitner. Scoring helpers
were Faith Sebastian (2), Emma
Strome, Emily Mitchell, Leanne
Plunkett, and Deitner.
Some good defensive work in the
third sealed the win.
The Bantam Girls also defeated
the Upper Maitland Mustangs 3-1
on Nov. 15.
After a scoreless first period
Kathryn Chalmers scored the first
Blyth Brussels goal 10 minutes intothe second period. Setting up thegoal were Lauren Bedard andHiggins.
Plunkett got the second goal
unassisted and rounding out the
score sheet was Higgins assisted by
Teresa Atkinson.
The team’s penalty kill units did a
great job as well.
Midget Girls
The Blyth Brussels Midget Girls
played a very strong game on Nov.
14 when the Normanby Wildcats
came to Blyth and chalked up a 6-0
win.
Lauren McNichol started off the
scoring with a nice goal midway
through the first period followed by
Nicole Middegaal earning a marker
at the end of the period, assisted by
Courtney Middegaal.
Using the same play, Middegaals
scored again at the top of the second.
Heidi Raynard got in on the action
and scored with the assist going to
Laura Higgins.
McNichol got her second goal of
the night with an assist going to
Lauren Cronin in the second period.
Hannah McCutcheon topped off the
scoring for the evening with a nice
goal in the third. Following that,
there was a scramble in front of the
net and McCutcheon scooped up the
puck and popped it in while the
goalie was down.
With the help from strong defence
and net minder Reid's cat-like
reflexes, the girls shut out
Normanby.
The Blyth Brussels Midget Girls
also hosted their home opener on
Monday Nov. 7 against the Mildmay
Monarchs.
The first period was an even
match with both teams sending the
puck down the ice.
With great goaltending by Justine
Reid it wasn’t until late in the
second period that the Monarchs put
one up on the board.
By the end of the second period it
was 2-0 for Mildmay.
The girls headed out at the
beginning of the third with a lot of
determination and support fromtheir fans.The Monarchs got another twogoals halfway through the third
period to make it 4-0.
Raynard put one on the board late
in the third for the Blyth Brussels
Midget Girls, which was assisted by
Cronin. The girls finished the game
as a 4-1 loss for Blyth Brussels.
The girls also took to the ice on
Nov. 21, hosting the Lucknow
Sepoys in Blyth. A final score was
unavailable at press time.
The girls next take to the ice on
Nov. 25 in Howick against the
Upper Maitland Mustangs. The puck
drops at 8:30 p.m.
Midget Rep
The Blyth Brussels Midget Rep
club continued their strong play
picking up two road wins last
weekend, extending their winning
streak to eight.
On Friday, Nov. 18 the team
travelled to Chesley and came away
with a 3-1 win over Arran Elderslie.
Goal scorers were Jeremy Ross (2)
and Brody Ten Pas.
On Nov. 19 the team travelled to
Seaforth and came home with their
eighth straight win by defeating
Seaforth 5-2. Goal scorers were
Mike Van Wyk (2), Spencer
Stevenson, Ten Pas and Adam
Cousins.
Previously, the team notched their
sixth win in their streak with a 5-2
win over Seaforth on Monday, Nov.
14.
Goal scorers were Stevenson,
Cousins, Ten Pas, Wyatt Carey and
Ross.
The team also bested Zurich 8-2
on Nov. 7 and BCH 4-3 on Nov. 5.
The Midget Rep squad also started
their drive for gold at the Wingham
Silver Stick this week with a match
against the Lucknow Sepoys on
Nov. 22. A final score was
unavailable at press time.
The Blyth Brussels team will
continue their performance in the
annual Wingham tournament on
Nov. 26 with two matches, one at
9:30 a.m. and one at 1:45 p.m.
Fighting down low
The Blyth Brussels Midget Girls worked hard on Nov. 14
and they were rewarded for it beating Normanby (Ayton) by
a score of 6-0 at the Blyth and District Community Centre.

The Saugeen Maitland Midget AA
Lightning picked up a pair of wins to
remain undefeated in their past 13
games.
On Saturday, Kelly Gribbons had
a three-point game as the Lightning
skated away with a 5-1 over the
Chatham Outlaws. On Sunday, a
shorthanded Saugeen squad made
the long trip to Windsor and it was
Brittany Butcher and Dollee Meigs
each scoring a pair of goals to lead
the Lightning past the Windsor
Wildcats 4-1. Other goal scorers on
the weekend were Stacie Vink,
Lindsay Dales, and Hannah
Davidson. Assists were awarded to
Brittany Hymer (2), Butcher,
Gribbons (2), Harley Westman,
Georgia Ottewell, Laura
Irwin, Dales, Vink, Meigs and
Davidson.
