NEWS
FROM BRUSSELS
November sunny day appreciated
Can you imagine living in a place
where the seasons do not change
dramatically? Imagine missing the
joy of a sunny day in November like
that we just had. We’d miss the
satisfaction of leisurely putting the
summer things away, enjoying the
sun and the breeze, a job that
sometimes we have to do quickly in
the snow. Walking through the fallen
leaves is another perk of the change
of season, the rustling leaves make
you slow down and kick just a littlehigher. So now with the sun shiningbrightly, I’m appreciating theseasonal changes that are ours. The Brussels, Morris and GreyCommunity Centre is a busy spot,
hockey players can be seen coming
and going from before light to well
after dark. Add some skaters and
walkers and a few meetings and it’s
rare to see the parking lot carless.
Wilbee’s Orchestra gave the folkswhat they are looking for onSaturday night. Smooth music, familiar tunes and friendly faceswere evident as the United Churchput a little exercise into their
fundraising effort. Everyone seemed
to have a good time for a good cause.

Christmas shopping
The Brussels Legion held its annual open house and craft
and bake sale on Saturday. Jo-Ann McDonald, right, was
one of the Legion members also in the market to do some
shopping, checking out what Cindy Jarvis, left, had to offer.

Activities around the Brussels
Legion Branch were more normal
this week. The Cadets met on
Tuesday evening and the pipe band
practised on Thursday evening.
Comrade John Lowe, Poppy
Chairman, has been busy getting
everything organized for
Remembrance Day this week.
The Thursday night dart league
had 12 darters taking aim at the
boards. Winners were: first, Bush
Whittard and Sandra Josling;
second, Marlene Rutledge and Gord
Jacklin; high, Alice Clifford and
Gord Jacklin. Come out and join the
fun any night. It is a blind mixed
draw, which means names are drawn
out of the hat to form the teams. It is

Shopping event in Brussels
In one of the most co-ordinated
business efforts in recent memory,
the Village of Brussels has pulled
together for the Holiday Village
Passport Promotion this Christmas
season.
The Christmas in the Village
promotion begins on Nov. 17 with
the annual Brussels moonlight sales
and open houses running from 5
p.m. to 9 p.m. The evening will also
feature the lighting of the village tree
at 6:15 p.m.
From Nov. 17 until Dec. 31,

Upon filling in your passport and
