There was no no-contact order issued, however, as Schneller’s sister had made it known that she still wanted to be in contact with her brother. Schneller was also handed a five- year weapons prohibition, as he had no previous criminal record. ASSAULT Luke Robert was fined $300 in connection to an assault that took place on March 21, 2011. Originally charged with assault with a weapon, Robert pled not guilty to that charge, but pled guilty instead to the charge of assault. The incident involved Robert shooting a young man in the leg with an airsoft gun, Uwagboe said. Robert said that kind of horseplay would occur between him and his friends all the time and that he didn’t mean to hurt anyone. Because of the age of the victim, the Children’s Aid Society was involved after the victim notified his uncle about what had happened. Robert had been charged with assault in 1995, Uwagboe said. He was given three months to pay the fine and was also issued a five-year weapons prohibition. FAILURE TO COMPLY Christopher Sowden of Staffa was given a $500 fine for failing to comply with the terms of his probation in a case that was transferred to Wingham from an Alberta courtroom.
