Church welcomes new Sr. Pastor
Some helpful tips
Joan MacPhee, right, gave Yasmeen Chamas, left, a hand carving her pumpkin on Saturday
at Auburn’s Village Pumpkin Party. The party was hailed a success as dozens were in
attendance to partake in the festivities. After the judging was done over 100 people sat down
to a potluck supper with donations being collected for the Edge Fund to raise money for trees
to be planted in Goderich in the wake of the August tornado. (Vicky Bremner photo)
Senior Pastor Mark Royall of the
Huron Chapel Evangelical
Missionary Church in Auburn says
that coming to this area feels like a
homecoming.
Royall, his wife Glenda and Carly,
one of his three daughters, moved to
Blyth in early October to fulfill two
of Royall’s dreams; one, to come
back to southwestern Ontario and
two, to become part of a rural
community once again.
Originally from Owen Sound,
Royall pastored in Blue Mountain
after graduating from the Canadian
Nazarene College in Alberta and
then eventually moved to the
lowlands in British Columbia where
he stayed for 10 years.
“Out there I thought I was in my
dream job,” he said. “I was part of a
church with a congregation of 2,000,
but I felt like I wanted to come
back.”
Royall stated that he is “wired and
connected” to life in rural Ontario
and prayed for a means to return.
“I went on the internet after
praying and found this position, it
just felt right,” he said. “It was the
only position I applied for.”
Royall said that he later learned
there were more than 100 applicants,
and that it took time for the decision
to be made.
“I can’t believe that I’m here
sometimes. I feel blessed,” he said.
While the Auburn-based chapel
may not boast a congregation of
2,000, Royall stated he is really
enjoying being there since he started
in mid-September, and he is
