Morrison Dam in Exeter were no
exception.
Despite difficult conditions,
athletes from F.E. Madill Secondary
School persevered. Fourteen runners
qualified for the Western Ontario
Secondary School Athletics
Association (WOSSAA)

Five athletes ran ‘personal best’
performances and two teams placed
in the top three with the Senior Girls
winning the Huron Perth
Championship for the second
consecutive year.
In the Midget Boys division, Scott
Dolmage and Curtis Raynard ran
their best races of the year winning
WOSSAA qualifying positions (top
15 in their race).
The Junior Girls team (Marion
Studhalter, Nicole Jacobs, Tristin
Cook and Holly Howson) made a
concerted team effort and
clinched third place to qualify for
WOSSAA.
In the Junior Boys Division,
Robbie Gordon, recovering from
recent sickness, ran a gutsy race to
win 11th and another WOSSAA
qualifying position.
The Senior Boys team have
improved tremendously this seasonbut they competed in anexceptionally strong field and wereunable to qualify for WOSSAA this
season. Their team effort and
improvement all season is
commendable.
The Senior Girls team looked
outstanding from the start. All seven
Madill runners have their eye on
WOSSAA with the goal of going to
the Ontario Federation of School
Athletics Association (OFSAA)
contest. Their performance was
impressive with Julie-Anne Staehli,
Madeline Yungblut, Brianna Bird,
and Erin Yungblut placing first,
second, fourth and fifth respectively.
Teammates Rachael Nivins,
Michele Studhalter and Kaitlyn
Bloemberg provided sound team
support. The team won the Huron
Perth championship for the second
consecutive year and Julie-Anne
Staehli was the individual Senior
Girls champion. Next week the girls
battle it out in a very competitive
field hoping to clinch a place in the
top two teams in order to qualify for
OFSAA.
