TOWNSHIP OF NORTH HURON NOTICE OF THE PASSING OF A DEVELOPMENT CHARGES BYLAW Pursuant to the Development Charges Act 1997, the Council of the Corporation of the Township of North Huron has passed a Development Charges Bylaw. Bylaw No. 43-2011 passed on October 17, 2011, sets out a range of charges to be collected from new residential development only. These charges vary by location within the municipality, as set out below. The monies collected are used to pay for services provided by the Township, as set out in the Development Charges Background Report. These charges apply to all lands within the Corporation, so a key map is not provided. The following charges are imposed under the bylaw: * The listed charges are for single and semi detached units. Charges vary by residential type based on expected occupancy levels. A copy of Bylaw No. 43-2011 may be examined at the Municipal Office, 274 Josephine Street, Wingham, Ontario, during regular office hours. Under Section 14 of the Act, any person or organization may appeal the bylaw to the Ontario Municipal Board by filing with the Clerk of the Municipality a notice of appeal setting out the objection to the bylaw and the reasons supporting the objection. The last day for appealing the bylaw is November 28, 2011. This Notice issued October 26, 2011. Madill Sr. Cross Country team takes HP goldCross country runners have to beprepared for rainy, cold weather andmuddy trails and this year’s HuronPerth championships held at the Morrison Dam in Exeter were no exception. Despite difficult conditions, athletes from F.E. Madill Secondary School persevered. Fourteen runners qualified for the Western Ontario Secondary School Athletics Association (WOSSAA) competition. Five athletes ran ‘personal best’ performances and two teams placed in the top three with the Senior Girls winning the Huron Perth Championship for the second consecutive year. In the Midget Boys division, Scott Dolmage and Curtis Raynard ran their best races of the year winning WOSSAA qualifying positions (top 15 in their race). The Junior Girls team (Marion Studhalter, Nicole Jacobs, Tristin Cook and Holly Howson) made a concerted team effort and clinched third place to qualify for WOSSAA. In the Junior Boys Division, Robbie Gordon, recovering from recent sickness, ran a gutsy race to win 11th and another WOSSAA qualifying position. The Senior Boys team have improved tremendously this seasonbut they competed in anexceptionally strong field and wereunable to qualify for WOSSAA this season. Their team effort and improvement all season is commendable. The Senior Girls team looked outstanding from the start. All seven Madill runners have their eye on WOSSAA with the goal of going to the Ontario Federation of School Athletics Association (OFSAA) contest. Their performance was impressive with Julie-Anne Staehli, Madeline Yungblut, Brianna Bird, and Erin Yungblut placing first, second, fourth and fifth respectively. Teammates Rachael Nivins, Michele Studhalter and Kaitlyn Bloemberg provided sound team support. The team won the Huron Perth championship for the second consecutive year and Julie-Anne Staehli was the individual Senior Girls champion. Next week the girls battle it out in a very competitive field hoping to clinch a place in the top two teams in order to qualify for OFSAA. The WOSSAA championships will be held Thursday, Oct. 27 at the Morrison Dam Conservation Area in Exeter with the first race at 10:50 a.m. and the final one, the senior girls race, starting at 2 p.m. Brussel Public School’s Jamie Newell took top prize in the nine- year-old girls’ bracket at the Avon - Maitland District School Board (AMDSB) Annual District Elementary School Cross Country meet in Benmiller on Oct. 17. Newell was one of 958 students from across the board who participated at the board-wide event. Other local runners who placed in the top 10 for their brackets include Grey Central Public School’s Hudson Smith who placed eighth in the boys’ age 10 race, Blyth Public School’s Brandon Marshall who took bronze in the boys’ age 13 race, Brooke Bos from Blyth Public School who finished ninth in the girls’ age 12 race and Emily Mitchell from Brussels Public School who took ninth place in the girls’ age 13 race. TOLL-FREE 1-877-513-5333 BB Midgets open with 1 win, 2 losses The Blyth Brussels Midget Rep team went 1-2 for their first three games of the season, losing 5-1 to Minto on Oct. 22, defeating Durham 5-3 on Oct. 18 and losing 4-2 to Drayton on Oct. 11. Kevin Pennington was the lone goal getter for Blyth/Brussels Adam Cousins and Dustin Pennington were the goal scorers in the Drayton game and Cousins notched a hattrick in the Durham game with single goals being scored by Spencer Stevenson and Nathan Plunkett. Nathan Watson played between the pipes for all three games. The Midgets then faced off against the Listowel Cyclones at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 24. A final score was unavailable as of press time.
