For all newcomers to the community
and also to remind those who have
helped for years, here is a brief
history if this annual event.
It started in 1949 and each year
over 1,000 people sit down together
at one time over a traditional hot
turkey supper with the whole
community contributing time and
food to make this supper a huge
success.
Last year was another great year
realizing $7,800. The proceeds go
toward the operating costs of the
Belgrave Community Centre, arena
and park and sponsor minor sports
programs throughout the year.
Without the fowl supper, these areas
might cease. Please help when they
call on you.
This year the annual turkey supper

It’s week three and all the primary
kids are learning plenty. The Grade
1/2 class is full of excitement – two
chrysalises have produced two
Monarch Butterflies.
It was quite amazing to see each
one emerge from their chrysalis and
hang onto the screen covering the
aquarium in order to dry their wings.
The students were all overwhelmed
by this miracle in nature.
The students predicted that
Thursday would be the day as they
observed the changes that occurred
in the chrysalis. Using the
knowledge they gleaned from their
caterpillar/butterfly research
equipped them with good insight.
In grand ceremony, Ava and
Cassidy released the butterflies and
sent them on their way to Mexico.
The class’s learning in the classroom
will centre around this awesome
experience and provide many
meaningful and authentic learning
opportunities.
The kindergarten students are
having fun with centres. Gregory
said he is having lots of fun with the
sand and playing house.
Nyla said she is having a
great time with her friends, playing
house.
The Grade 3/4 students are having
a great time with science, as they are
gaining knowledge in solids and
liquids. Braedan is having an
awesome time with that.
The Grade 2/3 students are having
fun in math. Abby is enjoying the
part that is “easy adding”. They also
learned a lot about bullying at the
“power of one” presentation at
Hullett Central Public School last
week. They learned how they can
stop bullying and how they can
make a positive change in the world.
In French class students are
making full sentences “en Francais”
in presentations on the computers so
that Mrs. Zembashi can learn a bit
more about them

billion. To date we have only heard
where $1 billion of these cuts will
come from. I am sorry, but trusting
any political party with $5 billion of
surprise cuts is more than Ontarians
should put up with. The
Conservatives need to outline,
exactly, where they plan to make
these $5 billion in cuts.
Finally, major Canadian
newspapers and economists have
outlined significant shortfalls in the
PC’s numbers as found in their
platform. They have gone as far as
pointing out a $14 billion deficiency
in their calculations and calling the
plan, “voodoo economics”. The PC
numbers have never been validated
by a chief economist of a major
Canadian bank. The PCs must tell
the Ontario public exactly how this
$14 billion deficit in their platform
will be addressed.
The election is not far away and
the Progressive Conservatives
have not given the Ontario
public the clarity, transparency
and straight forward information
that we the electorate need and
deserve.
I can only begin to wonder
what their real hidden agenda will
be.
Respectfully,
Angelo Ippolito, Belgrave.
