THE EDITOR, On Sept. 3 a group of ENJO consultants from Southwestern Ontario hosted a benefit for the Goderich Tornado Relief Fund, at the Regional Equine and Agricultural Centre of Huron (REACH) in Clinton. The evening was put on with help from the United Way with just 10 days notice. As residents of the Goderich area, we couldn’t have been more thrilled with the results from the night. More than 700 people came out to enjoy children’s entertainment, a barbecue, silent auction and a dance. It was a perfect event to help raise the spirits of local people and raise some much needed funds to help the town rebuild. As a result of the evening, $32,570 was raised for the Goderich Tornado Relief Fund. Thank you to everyone for taking time to attend this event, lending your heart to Goderich and showing what spirit and soul in a community is all about. We are so grateful to all the businesses and individuals who donated items to support this event. Special thanks to our local sponsors: ENJO Canada, Trish and Doug Ronan and Dave and Jane Roebuck and family, M&M Meat Shops, REACH, Garden of Hope, Verbeeks, Willy’s Burger Stop, Godfather’s Pizza, Canada Bread, H and H Farms, District 8 Huron Grain Farmers, Huron County Federation of Agriculture, Raymond Brothers, Northstar Ice, Chapman’s Ice Cream, Metro Grocery Store (London), A&M Sounds Disc Jockey Service, Moore’s Foodland, First Student Bus Lines, Wilson’s Printing, New 2 You Auto, Goderich Print Shop, Exeter Times Advocate and Deborah Schillemore, 104.9 the Beach and 90.5 MyFM for their media sponsorship. A huge thank you also goes to all the businesses and individuals who donated to the silent auction. We were overwhelmed by the donations, both locally and from surrounding areas, whose generosity and willingness to give their best items, led to the astounding success of the silent auction. With over 425 items on display, and the support from the community, we are able to make this considerable donation to the United Way for the Goderich Tornado Relief Fund. We would also like to thank our wonderful entertainers: Vaudeville Steve, Wilson’s Magic Dynasty, Dianne McFadden, and the Carry On Cloggers. There was something there for everyone – great times were had by all. Finally, we wish to thank the many volunteers who helped make this event possible. The event was a huge success thanks to the help of many caring individuals. We are especially grateful to Tamara Witlox-Peters of ENJO Canada, Adrian Peters of A&M Sounds Disc Jockey Service and Keri Crowdis also of ENJO Canada, who put their lives on hold for 10 days to organize this event. It is very touching to be on the receiving end of such generosity and compassion. While we never hope for a tragedy like the recent tornado, it is through these situations that we see the true spirit of community. Sincerely, Kim Squire, ENJO Senior Sales Leader, Goderich Norma Preszcator, ENJO Team Leader, Clinton Jennifer Skonieczny, ENJO Consultant, Exeter. Fight hard to ensure these hospital projects are completed in a timely manner. Fight for Rural Health Care Make sure that your families get the quality health care they deserve. ARE YOU CONCERNED ABOUT THE FUTURE OF HEALTH CARE IN HURON-BRUCE? Prior to the last provincial election in 2007 our Provincial MPP Carol Mitchell made promises and commitments to improve hospitals all across Huron-Bruce. These badly needed upgrades were proposed as far back as 2003 when Carol Mitchell was first elected. Within days of this election, Carol Mitchell AGAIN promised improvements for hospitals in Wingham, Southampton and Kincardine which doesn't go to tender until 2015. Should your family be on another 5 year healthcare waiting list? Do our healthcare professionals and their patients deserve safe and quality facilities? The facts Carol Mitchell owes you an apology. As Parliamentary Assistant to the Health Minister during the billion dollar E-health scandal she knows that these local projects would have been started by now, if it were not for this debacle and the $300 million wasted each year on LHINs in London and Toronto.
