Kids tell 'What Christmas means to me'
TO. me Christmas means to
exchange gifts with people.
When it becomes, Christmas I
don't know of anyone who
doesn't become anxious or
.curious, The little fellows are so
happy when they find a truck or'
doll under the Christmas tree,
The older people like Mom and
pad areT happy when they find a
watch or shaver. When the
morning is over we take off for a
family reunion or go for
Christmas dinner. When it getS
later you might find carollers at
your door, When its nine mom,
dad and even the younger ones,
get tired and head for bed,
That's what Christmas means to
me.

Christmas Means the joy of
giving and the sparkling presents,
The excited cries of joy when
opening wonderful gifts. That's
what Christmas means to me.
Christmas means the birth of
Christ to whom the angels sing,
He who answered the cries of
painful war. That's what
Christmas means to me.
Christmas means stuffing
yourself to the brim with roast
• turkey and pumpkin pie until
you nearly burst. That's what
Christmas means to me.
• Christmas means the joy of
going to bed full of food and
wishing you could start all over
again. That's what 'Christmas
means to me.

Christmas time has come at last,
I will be sad when it is gone,
But lets not think about the past
Lets enjoy it while we can
We can all trim the tree,
With the most joyest glee,
Carol Singing and sleigh rides are
all such fun.
The time fOr jingling bells has
come.
Hanging up your stocking
Makes you merry,
Especially when you look at
Santa's nose
Like a cherry.
So here's a moral
Remember it well
The joys of Christmas
Are all so swell.

It Means To Me The Joy of
giving. I like giving presents
when I get enough money, I got
My mom a big bird, My Brother
a small flash light, and my dad
some work socks;
I am saving up some more
money to get my sisters
somthing, I like hunting up
something to buy, I have to get
somthing bigger for my dad, and
I myself, I feel happy and
excited and anxious and curious
on CHRISTMAS.

Well, what does Christmas
mean? This is what Christmas
means to me.
Christmas means the Birth of
Christ and coming into the
world so he can grow the same
as we do, then take away our
sins on the cross when he is a,
man. I like Christmas because of
this and because of giving to
others. It is better to, give you
know. That is why I like
Christmas, The most important
part is the Birth of Christ.

`When I was very young
person about six Christmas was a
happy time for writing letters to
Santa Claus and hanging
stockings up near by the. tree.
When we get older we want to
have the joy of giving to mom,
dad, brother and sisters and
friends. We have family get
together at this one time of year.
The birth of Christ was the
whole beginning of Christmas.
Teenagers like to be out caroling
on a sleigh rides with sleigh bells
ringing. When Christmas only
comes once a year it is a happy
joyous time of year.

TWas a joyful night,
And was very bright.
In a manger lay, .

In' this joyous season we
should think of BOY Jesus. And
still remember it is better to give
than to receive. Happiness,
excitement, we all have these
feelings at this time of year. But
I really like getting and opening
what I got.

The Happiness of Christmas,
Is a sense of dizziness.
It means rushing in a dither,
And people rushing here and
hither.
Getting dinner ready
And keeping the tree steady.
Putting under it Christmas
presents,
I forgot the picture of pheasants.

There are so many different
things that Christmas means to
me. There's the morning where
you get to open presents and the
afternoon where we have
everyone in the family over to a
big feast. I like the turkey and
other foods too and for second
course the Christmas pudding
and the sauce. The fun of
exchanging gifts at the family
reunion after the family reunion
dinner. The happiness corms
when we decorate the tree and
house. The day is filled with
excitement, But I think the most
fun of all is giving.where you get
to look in the stores and books
for gifts. And the fun of
watching them open the presents
you give them, And then at
night when I go to bed I thank
God for such a happy day.

Christmas isn't just stockings
presents and Santa Claus. You
should think of the spiritual part
of Chrismas because there
wouldn't be any Christmas
without Christ being born, But
there still is the fun part of
Christmas and the joy of it all.
The opening of presents and
A $2-million winter works
program to provide special
employment opportunities
through training for 3,000
unemployed persons was
announced by Labour Minister
Gordon Carton today.
The project is part of the
Ontario Government's program
to improve the unemployment
situation and stimulate the
economy. It will be administered
by the Industrial Training
Branch of the Department of
Labour,
Mr. Carton 'said the program,
is designed to take people off
the unemployment rolls and
provide them with the
opportunity to improve their
qualifications for employment.
The Ontario Government
plan is in addition to those
announced by the Federal
Government, It will be
integrated with current training
projects of the Industrial
Training Branch.
Mr. Carton said a major
segment of the program will
operate in conjunction with the
current apprenticeship and
training-in-industry programs of
the Industrial Training Branch.
He said the project will be
co-operative effort of
government, the Colleges of
Applied Arts and Technology
and industry.
The five-part project will
cover: apprenticeship
pre-employment training;
upgrading provisional certificate
holders; on-the-job
apprenticeship in small business;
special short-term industrial
training and additional funds to
facilitate training programs for
Indians.
In the apprenticeship
pre-employment training
program, the Industrial Training
Branch will utilize existing
facilities in the Colleges of
Applied Arts and Technology
throughout the province.
The Department of Labour
plans to recruit 1,000
unemployed persons to take part
in the program and the first
apprentices are to be enrolled in
giving of happiness, The love and

What Christmas means to me;
I when Santa drops down from
the chimney
Up on the rooftop reindeer eight
I hope Santa Claus won't be late
When we sneak down to look at
the tree
I get this happy feeling inside of
me
It reminds me of when the Wise
Men saw the star they had to
travel far
When the shepherds watched
their flocks by night they saw
the star that shone bright.
This what Christmas means to
me.

Christmas wouldn't be here if
it weren't for Jesus Christ being
born about 2,000 years ago. So
we should think mostly about
that.
But I like thinking of the
excitement of Christmas Eve and
Christmas morning. Everybody
opens their presents and the
little children look at play with
their toys,
Then comes the Christmas
dinner. Everybody is rushing to
get it ready. Then everybody
the colleges early in January. A
second group will be recruited
and enrolled eight weeks later.
Training will be offered in a
number of trade .areas in blocks
of eight weeks and will be
tailored to provide the
apprentice with a broad
background which will enhance
his opportunity for employment
in the relevant field.
A counselling service will be
maintained by the Industrial
Training Branch to assist in
placing the apprentices on
completion of the course,
This program will cost
approximately $800,000,
consisting of $600,000 tuition
and $ 2 0 0,000 provincial
allowances for the apprentices.
A second program to cost
$520,000, will give 400
unemployed tradesmen the
opportunity to become qualified
journeymen. This project will
include a 10-week course to
assist immigrant tradesmen to
improve language skills and to
understnad specific trade
terminology.
A campaign will be
conducted by the Industrial
Training Branch to encourage
small business to participate in
the on-the-job apprenticeship
program. Employers will receive
financial support of 50 per cent
of the regulated wage rate for
apprentices for a maximum of
12 weeks.
• The Industrial Training
Branch plans to recruit 500
unemployed for this interim
apprenticeship training. The
program is expected to provide a
larger pool of skilled workers for
the time when the economy
improves. An allotment of
$360,000 has been made for this
phase of the program.
The fourth program will be a

Christmas means presents, trees
and Santa Claus. I feel the same

When Christmas eve Santa
Claus comes down all dirty,
when he comes down the
chimney. He comes with his big
bag of toys and gifts. And Santa
Claus puts them all under the
tree. Then Santa Claus goes up

Christmas moring comes we all
get up and dash down the stairs
and into the living room. And
we'll open up the presents with
joy.

Safety tips
Canada, like Britain, is
moving towards adoption of the
metric system. In the next
decade our highways- may all be
marked in kilometers instead of
miles, says the Ontario Safety
League. One wonders what will
happen to English words like
yardstick, milestone, inching.
How long is a meter? It was
originally fixed as the
ten-millionth part of the
distance from the equator to the
North Pole, equal to 39.37
inches. But it is reported that an
international conference of
scientists has now decided on a
more precise,definition; they say
that the exact length of a meter
is 1,650,763.73 times the
wavelength of the orange, light of
isotopic krypton of mass 86 at
760 mm. of pressure at 15
degrees centigrade. Just in case
you wondered....
