UCW general
meeting held
The General meeting of
Wesley Willis U.C,W. was held in
the ehurch parlor Wednesday at
Nov, 24,
Mrs. Langdon and her pupils
entertained with John Wood at
the piano and Jane Symons also
at the piano. A duet by Mitzie
Roy and Nancy Hearn was
accompanied by Mrs. Langdon
at the piano, A vote of thanks
Was extended to Mrs. Langdon
and her pupils by Mrs.
Livermore.
The theme of this meeting
was "Citizenship and Literature"
and was given by Mrs, Steep and
Mrs. Livermore. They also
conducted the worship service.
Mrs. Livermore read a poem "Be
kind" and also offered prayer.
Hymn 376 was sung with Mrs.
Murch at the piano. Scripture
was read by Mrs. Maclaren.
Mrs. Beattie gave a synopsis of
the book "Strawberries all the
year round" for which the
setting was Africa. Mrs. Murch
gave an outline of the Study
Pack which will be Africa, for
the coming year.
Mrs. Davies took charge of the
business. Mrs. Porter read the
minutes of the last meeting and
Mrs. Sutter gave the treasurer's
report which showed the U.C.W.
are doing quite well.
Mrs. Beattie read the slate of
officers. Reports from the
various committees were read,
also reports from the three units.
Mrs. Haddy read letters from our
Foster child.
Mrs. Currie reported 248
Hospital calls and 189 Home
calls made since September and
four deaths. The offering was
taken and dedicated. Mrs. Davies
closed the meeting with a poem
"Thoughts" followed by the
Mizpah Benediction. The overall
social committee served
Christmas Cake and tea.
Medical
Secretaries
honor retiring
president
The Huron County Medical
Secretaries met for their annual
Christmas party at the Pizza
Patio, Goderich, on Saturday,
November 27. There were 26
present including husbands and
friends of the secretaries, and
two guests, John Garrick and
Miss Christine Sudyk.
Upon arrival each husband, or
boyfriend was presented with a
lovely corsage to pin on His
Lady, by the out-going President
Mrs. Kay a Hodgkinson. These
were given with the compliments
of the Church. Street Medical
Center,
When all of the guests had
arrived, a delicious turkey
dinner, with all of the trimmings
was served. The Christmas theme
was tastefully carried out both
in the setting and the table
decorations.
becoming President, Mrs,
Donna Fisher, Goderich, called
the meeting to order. After
making everyone welcome, she
went on with some very pleasant
duties.
First of all, a lovely pin was
presented to the out-going
President, Mrs. Kay Hodgkinson,
with appreciation, and this was
accepted very graciously.
After that a gift was presented
to our Medical Secretary bride,
Bonnie, and her husband Rick.
Numbers were given to all
present, and the following
presentations were made: Mrs.
Joyce Armstrong, the gift from
Dr. Cauchi's office; Doti
Johnston* the gift from Dr,
Harrett's office; Mrs. Pauline
McMichael, the gift from the
Goderich Medical Centre; Gene
Andari, the gift from Dr.
Wallace, zurich; and ' Gerry
Whaley won the beautiful
centerpiece that had been
donated by the Denomine
Florist Shop in Coclerith.
Dancing to the music of the
Juggernauts rounded out a very
pleasant evening. Mrs. Ruth
Cunningham, an ex.Medical
Secretary, who was present at
the Patio, with her husband,
requested the Orchestra to play
a special tune for the Secretaries.
