Central Huron Hockey League
Action quickens at arena
By Klett' WilliaMs
Central Huron Hockey
League action for the week got
under way at the Clinton arena
last Wednesday November 16, as
Bayfield downed Holmesville
41.
At 9:27 of the first period
Holmesville set the pace as Bill
Hogarth sunk the opening goal
unassisted. Bayfield came on
strong however and by the end
of the frame was in the lead by
virtue of one goal. They scored
twice with Dave Wilkinson
sinking a goal at 14:27 from
Frank Hogan and then reversing
the combination as Hogan
scored at 14:56 with the assist
going to Wilkinson.
Bayfield continued to control
the game in the second period as
Wayne Doak scored the only
marker of the 20 minute time
slot from Wilkinson at 3:29. At
7:41, of the final period Doak
and Wilkinson combined again
for the final goal of the game.
The next evening in Goderich
the Juveniles picked up a badly
needed win as they downed
Building Centre 5-3.
In the opening period Bruce
Stoll scored for the Juveniles at
13:27 with an assist on the play
being granted to Dave Graf.
In the second period Building
Centre tied the score briefly
when Bud Boyce scored from
Jim McLeod at 8:29 but Stu
.Asher put the Juveniles back in
the game lead when he scored
from Brian Rumig at 11:09.
The Juveniles opened the
final period with two quick
goals, Asher scored from Terry
Meriam at 2;02 and then Allan
Sheleton sunk one with the
assist going to Phil Petrie at
3:12. Building Centre made a
bid to stay in the, game as Bud
Boyce scored unassisted at 8:20
and Brian Besner scored from
Bob Dick at 18;59, but the
Juveniles wrapped it up at 19:13
when Asher scored again this
time from Dave Oraf.
In that game, Building Centre
collected 13 penalties while the
Juveniles managed to
accumulate an additional six.
The Sunday night double
header at the Goderich arena
opened up with a 12.§ slaughter
dished out by the Sift° Salt
team to DRMCO.
During the opening period
the trend could be seen forming
up as Rick Fremilin opened the
scoring on a good note for
DRMCO at 1:09 unassisted only
to have Sifto Salt come back
with three quick goals as Derwin
Carter scored from Wayne
Draper at 4:44, Ken Daer
unassisted at 6:05 and Tom
Crawford from George Collinson,
at 9:38.
Jim Farrish managed to sink
another one for DRMCO from
Jim Kelly at 10:19 but Sifto
wrapped up the first' period in
undisputed control by scoring
twice more as Crawford scored
his second goal, this time
unassisted at 10:45 and Ken
Meriam added another marker to
Sifto's total unassisted at 12:39.
The teams split the scoring in
the second period with Sifto
opening things up on a goal by
Jim McAstocker from Ken
Meriam at 9:12 followed by two
DRMCO goals, the first by Fred
Armstrong from Butch. Fleet at
12:16 and the second by Rick
Fremlin from Fleet again at
12:58. Sifto closed out the
scoring of the frame on a goal by
Derwyn Carter from Draper at
13;30,
In the final period however
Sing Salt really cut loose.
DRMCO managed one goal at
15:18 when John Sturdy , scored
front Del Bedard and John'
Hodge but Sifto scored no less
than five in the same frame. It
was Draper from Daer at 2:13,
Carter from Crawford and
Meriam at 8:21, McAstocker
unassisted with Sifto two men
short at 14:10, Ken Deer ,lunassisted at 14:48 and Tom
Crawford from Meriam at 16:03.
Sunday evening's second
game saw scoring almost as high
as Building Centre handed
Holmesville a 9-3 defeat.
Dennis Lassaline opened the
first period with two goals for
Building Centre at 1:39 and
6:34 assisted by Rick Sowerby
in both cases. Paul Draper scored
one for Holmesville assisted by
Steve Tyndall at 8:15.
Building Centre really went
to town in the second period
scoring five unanswered goals.
Barry Block scored from Brian
"Besner at 2:31, Lassaline from
Sowerby again at 4:41, Buck

CLINTON 6 — WINGHAM 6
Clinton played their best
game of the exhibition series on
Tuesday night in Wingham.
The score indicated the
eveness of the play, although
Clinton did not have as many
shots on goal as Wingham did.
Coach Carter had 2 players
dressed, including three goalies,
one for each period. There were
nine penalties, three to Wingham
•and four to, •Clinton -7- .:Roy,
Carter, Wheeler and Thompson.
In the scoring, it was the
Taylor line that really shone,
with Robert Taylor getting two
goals and two assists; Rick
Taylor two goals and Allan
Taylor one assist. The other
goals were by Rick Tye and
Peter Thompson, with assists
going to Richard Carter and
John McMahon.
The only distasteful part of
the evening was after the game,
when one of the Clinton boys
was roughed up by two
Wingham toughs. Raymond
Wheeler was carrying his
equipment to the car when he
was attacked and beaten.
The Wingham police and the
O.P.P. both came to the arena,
and it is expected that a charge
of assault will be laid. There is
no blame attached to the
game.
The all Stars are preparing for
the season's schedule, which is
expected to get underway by
Nov. 24, and also for the annual
trip to Clinton, New York,
during the first weekend in
December.
The team elected their
captains by ballot, with Peter
Thompson being elected Captain
and John Hart and Robert
Taylor AS assistants.
Million from Budd loyce at
8:17, Dennis Lassaline
unassisted at 8:23 and Jim
McLeod. at 14:29 unassisted.
In the final period Bill
Hogarth scored from Art
McDougal for Holmesville at
7:06 and Ron Miller again for
Holmesville from Draper at
7:40. Building Centre finished
off the scoring however as
Sowerby scored from Block at
8:01 and Million from Boyce at
13.28.'
