Monday night at the Legion Hall. Guest speaker for the
evening was Rev. George Youmatoff of Bayfield, who was
formerly the protestant chaplain at CFB Clinton.

Aimwell UCW unit meets

Mrs. Currie reported 38 home
calls and 22 hospital calls. The
next meeting is to be on
December 7. All ladies who wish
to help sing carols at the hospital
will meet there at 7 p.m. then go
on to the Manse, A exchange of
gifts will add to the fun.
Mary Sutter conducted a
mysterious, hilarious game "Mini
Bags for Maxi Grabs." A
delicious lunch was served.

First Bayfield Cubs held their
regular weekly meeting,
Wednesday evening, Nov. 18 in
the Municipal Building.
The leaders sent all the Cubs
in their Sixes on a scavenger
hunt fur a half-hour, The White
Six were the first ones to collect
the necessary items and return
to the Cub Hall with their
"treasures."
When the Cubs returned they
put all the collected items into
the garbage in an aid to help
fight pollution.
A talk on compass reading
ensued and it was explained
what to do if they should
become lost in a bush. Games
pertaining to the lesson
followed.
David Hill, Robert Boyes,
George Wilson and Bobby
Thompson received their
Housekeeping Badges.
Edward Bullen was welcomed
as a new chum. Cub Ricky
Johnston was sent a card and
treats while he was a patient in
Sick Children's Hospital in
London; and the CUbs received a
thank you card from Ricky, who
is home from hospital.
Registrations will be out
shortly, and the Leaders ask that
the money be sent in as soon as
possible after notification, also
parents are invited anytime to
watch a Cub program.
The meeting closed with
Prayer.
4-H
The Dairy Dames of Bayfield
held their 4-H Achievement Day
in Clinton, Saturday, Nov. 20,
and presented a skit entitled
"What Milk Did For Meranda."
All the members took part in
the skit and were highly
commended for their original
performance.
Cindy Middleton and Theresa
Steegstra received their
certificates for completing two
clubs.
Each achievement day all girls
are given silver spoons with 4-11
Club crests on them,
The following girls completed
the club: Valerie Merner, Norma
Garrett, Veronica Huffman,
Cindy Middleton, Theresa
Steegstra, Sharon Bunn, Dawn
Emma McLeod, Patti Greer,
Connie Talbot, Shirley Brandon.
They were under the capable
leadership of Mrs. Joan Meitner,
assisted by Mrs. Margaret
Garrett.
The next club entitled "Sleep
Wear" will begin in early
February.
RANGERS
The regular Ranger meeting
was held on Nov. 17 in the
Town Hall.
The girls were learning the
methods of artificial respiration.
The instructor brought along a
dummy for both the Rangers
and Sea Scouts to practise on.
Each girl received a /card telling
them they had passed our
artificial respiration training and
are capable of helping someone
out of breath.
Next week we will have a test
on artificial respiration and the
first aid classes we took for three
weeks. The tests will show if the
girls are reliable enough to help
an injured person.

guest of Mr. Mike Beatty.
Miss Lynn Brandon, R.N,A.
on staff of the Wingham General
Hospital was home for Sunday
and Monday with her parents
Mr. and Mrs. Ken Brandon and
brothers and sisters.
Mr. and Mrs, Harold Simpson
and Cathy, London were Sunday
visitors with her brother-in-law
'and sister Mr. and Mrs. Alf
Scotchmer.
Mrs, Murray Garrett spent
Monday and Tuesday last at the
Royal Winter Fair in Toronto as
the guest of the Ontario
Agricultural Society, as a Leader
of 4-H Clubs. While there she
stayed at the Lord SiMCOQ
Hotel, and Tuesday, had lunch
with Miss Colleen Merner,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Merton
Merner of Bayfield, who is an
employee of Simpsons-Sears in
Toronto.
Master John Garrett, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Murray Garrett,
spent last Monday and Tuesday
with his grandmother Mrs. Mabel
Collins in Seaforth.
Best wishes to Mrs. Robert
(Denice) Orr who is presently a
patient in Clinton Public
Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Alf Scotchmer
have purchased the former
Drouin home on the corner of
Louisa St. and Bayfield Terrace
and have taken up residence
there.
Mrs. Fred Le Beau is spending
a few days in London as the
guest of her son, his wife and
family, Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Cluff, Robbie and Tara. She will
also visit with her son-in-law,
daughter and children, Mr. and
Mrs. Fletcher McLaughlin,
Meagan, Courtney and Alfie and
her daughter Mrs. Jackie Moss,
all of Toronto.
Mrs. Myrtle Pease and Irvin of
London were at their village
home this past weekend.
Miss Debbie Hopf and
girlfriend Toni of Kitchener
spent the weekend with Mr. and
Mrs. Murray Garrett and family.
Mr and Mrs. Ron Bowers, of
Wellesley, were weekend guests
of Mr. and Mrs. Murray Garrett
and family.
Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Taylor,
David, Paul and Lynda of
Glanworth spent the weekend
with her parents Mr. and Mrs.
Ivon Steckle.
Miss Kay Reid returned to
Windsor on Thursday of last
week after having visited at the
Hut for a week.
George Durham and son,
Ron, from Clarkston were also
weekend guests with the
former's aunt and uncle, Mr. and
Mrs. Diehl last Saturday. Mr.
Durham also visited with his
mother Mrs. Durham at
Huronview,

Eighteen members of the
Wesley Willis UCW group — the
Magic Circle, met in the church
parlour Tuesday, Nov. 16. The
president, Mrs. J. Nediger,
opened the meeting with a
poem. The ladies in charge of
the evening conducted a
beautiful devotional on peace.
Billie Stewart read the scripture.
Mary Sutter and Clete Holland
sang a duet, then each person
read a verse or thought about
peace. The hymn Take my Life
was sung to a new tune.
Mrs. Nediger conducted the
business.
Mrs. Oliver and Mrs. Mowatt
thanked the ladies for their fine
co-operation in preparing for the
very successful Kris Kringle
Koffee Klatch.
It was decided that $20 be
given to the Pakistan relief fund.
All suitable articles left from the
bazaar are to be given to the
Brownies for their Fun Fare to
beheld Oct. 26. Mrs. Sinclair
reported that the bale was
packed but its destination is not
yet decided.

The Aimwell Unit of the
United Church Women, held its
Meeting on Nov. 1.5 at the home
of Ella Jewitt.
The meeting opened with a
hymn. The president, Ruth
Vincent, read the scripture and
meditation and led in prayer.
She also led a discussion on the
different types of worhsip, The
singing of a hymn closed the
worship portion of the meeting,
The roll call was answered by
19 members and four visitors. It
was decid4d to give shut-ins
plates for Valentine's Day
instead of Christmas. The
Christmas party is Dec. 12 in the
church with a pot luck supper
and program. The committee in
charge includes Ella Jewitt, Elma
Jewitt and Mary Peel. The
children 12 and under will get
bags of candy.
The meeting concluded with
the making of Christmas favours
for hospital trays. Joan Whyte
and Helen Lawson supervised.
Lunch was served by Gail Lear
and Mary Peel,
The Institute-sponsored
course, The Knack of Sewing
with Knits, concluded
Wednesday, Nov. 17. Twenty-six
ladies took the course, making a
variety of garments. The
summary day will be Dec, 13 in
the Legion Hall, Clinton.
PERSONALS
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard
Caldwell visited in Toronto on
Sunday with their daughter, Mr.
and Mrs. Joe Marland, Candice
and Glen, also visiting Wendy, a
patient in Toronto Western
Hospital. Wendy's friends will be
glad to know she is improving
after a car accident last week.
Sympathy is extended to Mr.
and Mrs. Bruce Bromle'y in the
loss of their baby, Kevin who
died Sunday morning.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
Shobhrook, Darrell and Diana
and Mrs. A. Pierce visited with
Mr. end Mrs, Charles Knox and
family of Goderich, Sunday
afternoon.

Junior choir sang a lovely
anthem under the leadership of
Mrs. Harry Lear,
