Knox Presbyterian Church Bayfield was decorated with
miniature mauve carnations and white shasta daisies arranged
in candelabra for the October 23 double-ring wedding
ceremony at which Richard David Talbot and Lynda Jane
(Rathwell) Talbot became man and wife before the Rev. G, L.
Royal.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Rathwell,
121 Picton St. East, Goderich, and the groom's parents are Mr.
and Mrs. Dewar Talbot, R. R, 3, Bayfield.
Mrs. Don Johnston presided at the organ and accompanied
the soloist, Ted Dunn who sang Melody of Love and The
Hawaiian Wedding Song.
The bride was given in marriage by her father and chose a
white formal-length gown with a fitted bodice and an A-line
skirt of polyester crepe over satin. A myriad of tiny satin
buttons closed the gown at the back. Floral appliques accented
the Victorian collar, waistline, skirt, train and slashed
bell-shaped sleeves. Her headpiece was a delicate rose
surrounded by strands of forget-me-nots and seed pearls, A
flowing cathedral-length train which fell from the raised
empire waistline completed the ensemble. Her bridal bouquet
consisted of a central mauve orchid with a cascade of
stephanotis and white shasta daisies.
Maid of honor was Miss Brenda Talbot, R. R. 3, Bayfield,
the bride's sister-in-law. She wore an empire-styled gown in
rich mauve polyester crepe with full, wrist-length bell sleeves
and a Victorian neckline. The sleeves, neckline and empire
waist were accented with elegant silver trim. She carried a
bouquet of white shasta daisies accented with miniature
carnations among her curls.
Bridesmaids were Miss Lori Talbot and Miss Cindy Talbot,
daughters of the bride, R. R. 3, Bayfield. Their dresses were
styled identically to that of the maid of honor and they also
wore baby eitrnations in their hair.
Doug Armstrong, R. R. 3, hayfield, was the groomsman.
Ushers were Brian Talbot, R. R. 3, Bayfield, brother of the
groom, and Jim Grainger, R. R. 2, Zurich.
The wedding reception was held at the hayfield
Community Centre where mauve candles on the tables and
yellow and mauve mums set the scene. The bride's mother
wore a blue polyester lace suit featuring a matching
elbow-length cape. She wore a corsage of white gardenia. The
groom's mother chose a powder blue chiffon dress with long
Gibson-girl sleeves and a lace jacket, brown accessories and a
corsage of white gardenia and stephanotis.
A honeymoon to Northern Ontario followed, the bride
changing to a peasant-styled mini-dress with a floral colored
skirt and a white top trimmed with black lace and Iong,
Juliette sleeves and accented at the waist with a wide black
laced belt. She wore a corsage of red roses.
The couple is residing at R, R. 3, Bayfield.
Prior to her wedding the bride was honored at showers
given by Mandy Bruinsma, sister of the bride, Helen Beach and
Brenda Talbot at the home of Mrs. Beach; Mrs. Ross reagan
and Mrs. Donald Harris, aunts of the bride, at Mrs. reagan's
home; and a cup and saucer shower at the home of Mrs. Marg
