choir supplied special music,
Mrs. Viola Nelson, convened
the programme for this fall
meeting of the Wesley-Willis
afternoon group.
She was assisted in a panel
discussion by Mrs. Daisy
Holland, Mrs. Marian Carter and
Mrs. Edna Adams. Her topic was
"Brazil" some of the many
factors making up the large
country with a population four
times as large as Canada.
She chose missionary hymns
to accompany her study, Mrs.
Leona Holland offered prayer.
The business was conducted
by the Group leader, Mrs. F.
Fingland. There were 26 home
and 18 hospital calls since last
meeting made on sick and
;hut-ins.
Mrs, William Norman of
Holmesville introduced the
speaker Miss Lucille Bond,
She spoke and showed slides
of her work, this past summer hi
Nicaragua, and Costa Rica. Miss
Bond was thanked, on behalf of
the audience, by Mrs. Norman
Trewartha.
A social cup of eoffee was
enjoyed after the service where
AM/00e could question Lucille
and view the interesting articles
she brought home with her.
Mrs. Armstrong reported
cards sent to six ladies,
Mrs. Stewart reminded the
ladies of the Koffee Klatch
coming up on Oct. 30.
Our group will have baking,
candy, some knitting, novelties
etc. It was suggested we have a
book stall and a flea market
booth if possible.
An offering was taken up for
Pakistani Relief. We ladies were
invited to take part in a sewing
course on 'Knits' conducted by
Mary Sutter Nov. 3-24 in the
church.
Mrs. Nelson's group served a
sample of food often served in
Brazil (a casserole of beans,
meat, spice) and raw fruit
dessert,
GEORGE ROBERT LYLE HILL
George Robert Lyle Hill of
Bayfield died in Westminster
Hospital, London on Friday,
Oct. 29, 1971, He was 75 years
of age,
He was born in Brucefield on
Sept. 19,.1896, the son of the
late George and Anne Hill. He
Married the former Kathleen
Skelton on April 18, 1922 and
the couple farmed for many
years. They had been residents
of Bayfield for eight years.
He was a member of Huron
Masonic Lodge No. 224 and
Royal Canadian Legion Branch
140, Clinton.
Surviving besides his wife are
four sons, Allan of Brucefield,
Gordon and Murray of Varna
Frank of Bayfield; two
Weldon Maynard Tyndall
died at his home in Londesboro
on Oct. 22, 1971, He was 51
years of age.
Born in Tuckersmith
township on May 30, 1920, he
was the son of the. ate Fred and
Myrtle Tyndall.
He married the former Alma
G. Hoggart in June, 1940, He
was co-owner of the Londesboro
Locker Service for 20 years and
previous to that farmed in
Hullett and Goderich townships.
He was a life-long resident of
Londesboro.
He was a member of
Londesboro United Church, a
past master of Hullett Lodge,
A.F. and A,M. and a member of
the Clinton Orange Lodge.
Surviving besides his wife are
one brother, Bruce of RR 3,
WILLIAM HOWA
William Howard Glazier of
Frederick Street Clinton died,
suddenly in a farm accident on
Oct, 23, 1971. He was 66 years
of age.
He was born on Nov. 1, 1904
in Clinton, the son of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Adam Glazier. He
married the former Myrtle
McClure in 1937. He had been a
lifetime resident of Clinton.
Surviving are one son, Robert
(Rawleigh) Glazier; two
daughters, Mrs. Gerald
(Dorothy) Hunking, Clinton and
Mrs, Alvin (Gloria) McWhirter,
daughters, Mrs. Ed (Freda)
Moran and Mrs, James (Marion)
Gayder, both of St, Catharines
and one sister, Mrs, J. K. (Jean)
Cornish of Brucefiled, Also
surviving are 18 grandchildren
and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services took place
Friday, Oct. 29 from the Ball
Funeral Home, Clinton with
Rev. Murdock Morrison of
Varna officiating. Interment was
in Baird's Cemetery,
Pallbearers were Joe Mayman,
Bayfield; Bin Caldwell,
Brucefield; Bob McGregor,
Kippen; Roy Brock, Hensall;
Wilmer Reid, Varna and Bob
Skelton, Goderich,
Flowerbearers were grandsons
Bev Hill, Murray Gayder, Tom
Hill and Lyle Hill.
Clinton and one sister, Mrs.
George (Doris) Wilson Varna and
nieces and nephews.,
Funeral services took place
Monday from the Ball Funeral
Home, Clinton with the Rev.
Stanley McDonald of
Londesboro officiating.
Interment was in Clinton
cemetery.
Pallbearers were Art Colson,
Gordon Radford, Dave
Anderson, James McEwing,
Murray Lyon and Cliff
Saundercock,
Flowerbearers were Gordon
Jenkins, Bill Tyndall, Bob
Watkins and Kenneth McVittie.
Friends and relatives attended
the funeral from Niagara Falls,
Toronto and Arkona as well as
the local area.

of Clinton; sisters Mrs. Am
(Gertie) Deeves, Henan and
Mrs. Elwin (Edith) Pickard of
Dundas and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
from the Ball Funeral Home,
Clinton on Oct. 26 with the Rev.
A. J. Mowatt officiating. Burial
was in Clinton Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bill Millson,
James Chalmers, Gordon Dale,
Bruce Allin, Percy Livermore
and Bob Faulds.
Flowerbearers were Roy
Pickard, Don Pickard and Brian
Hunkine.
CLIFFORD C. TROTT
Clifford C. Trott, 71 of 430
Pall Mall St., London, formerly
of Seaforth, died suddenly in
Seaforth Thursday, Oct, 25,
1971.
Born in Seaforth, he was the
son of the late Mr. and Mrs.
William Trott. He was educated
in Seaforth schools and Queen's
Carl East, aged 78, died
October 7, 1971 at Providence
Hospital in Toronto. Interment
was in Mount Pleasant
Cemetery.
He was the husband of Ethel
Skinner and step-father of
Gordon and George Skinner; and
dear brother of Mrs, Gordon
Cuninghame (May) of Clinton,
and of Roy A. East of Toronto.
He was predeceased by a sister,
Kathleen, of Toronto and a
brother, Edgar, of Windsor.
He was born in Clinton of
English and Scottish descent and
was the youngest child of the
late Thomas and Annie East. His
grandparents were very early
settlers of Huron County; those
on his father's side being
Thomas and Dorcas East who
settled in the Township of
Hullett; and those on his
mother's side were David and
Catherine Moffatt — early
settlers of Tuckersmith
Township,
Carl's early childhood was
spent in Norfolk, Virginia,
U.S.A., until his father's death
when his mother with her five
children returned to Canada and
her home town of Clinton.
As a young man, Carl became
a member of the Wesley
HOWARD TRENT SHOBBROOK
Howard Trent Shobbrook
passed away, as the result of an
accident, in Londesboro on
Sunday, October 17, 1971. He
was ten year's old.
Trent was the son of Gordon
and Darlene Shobbrook of R. R.
1, Londesboro.
Besides his parents he leaves
to Onourn' his passing a brother,
Darrell, and sister, Diana, at
home.
Trent rested at the Tasker
Funeral Home, Blyth, until
Wednesday, October 20, then to
Londesboro United Church for
service at 2 p.m. conducted by
Rev. Stanley C. McDonald,
Interment was in Blyth Union
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jack Lee,
Ken Hulley, Bert Lyon and Cliff
Saundercock,
Flowerbearers were four
school friends, Dean McDonald,
Wayne Halley, David Lear, and
Gary Shepherd.
University, Kingston, He was
retired school teacher.
Surviving are his wife, the
former Hazel J, Gemming,
formerly of Gait and one
brother, Clarence A„ of Clinton.
The funeral service was held
on Monday at fit. S, Box Funeral,
Home, Seaforth with burial in
Greenwood cemetery, Owen
Sound.
CARL EAST
Methodist Church. He was a
member of the choir and active
in young people's organizations.
He was also a hockey enthusiast.
After completing high school,
he joined the staff of The Royal
Bank of Canada — then under
the management of the late R.
E. Manning.
He followed the banking
profession until the age of
retirement. During that time, he
served for a short while in World
War I in the cavalry division at
Petawawa, but due to ill health
he never saw active service
overseas.
His banking career centered
around Ontario with
appointments in various
branches; latterly he was
associated with the Toronto
main office at King and Yonge
Streets and at the same time his
brother, Roy, was manager of
the Yonge and Bloor branch of
The Royal Bank.
About 1930 he married his
sweetheart of high school days,
Miss Mayfrid Allin, a graduate of
Alma College and the youngest
daughter of the late Rev, and
Mrs. S. J, Allire former pastor of
the Ontario Street Methodist
Church of Clinton. She
predeceased him while living in
Toronto.
After his retirement from The
Royal Bank and previous to his
marriage to Mrs. Skinner, lie
became engaged for a few years
in the mining industry, with
headquarters in Toronto.
While living in Toronto, Mr.
East was associated with the
Eglinton United Church, when
Rev. Dr. Edward Gregg was
pester.
Carl was an ardent fisherman
and hunter and enjoyed many
such outings ,in the Clinton
district, as well as along the
shore of Lake Huron extending
northward to Bale du Dore,
where he and a few Other
Clint o ri arts , including his
brotherin-law, Gordon
Cuninghaine, maintained a log
hunting cabin for 35 years.
