Mrs. Alvin Dutot was the
hostess for the September
meeting of the A.C,W, of St.
James, Middleton, held last
Thursday evening.
Mrs. Edward Wise presided
and extended a wann welcome
to the ten members and three
visitors present, The latter
included Mrs, George Youmatoff
of Bayfield, the wife of the new
rector.
The meeting •opened with the
singing of a medley of harvest
hymns with Mrs. Storey at the
piano.
Mrs. Wise conducted the
devotional period with the
theme of "Harvest", as
illustrated in the parable of the
sower. Mrs. Wise illustrated her
talk with a lovely poem,
"Harvest Your Dreams",
Mrs. Miller gave the
secretary's report and Mrs.
Dutot gave the financial
statement.
The roll pall was answered by
a Scripture verse on the Harvest
theme and also by each one
detailing their summer's
holidays.
The president had been up
north to Sudbury, Manatoulin
The first meeting of the
"Brucefield Buttercups" was
held at the home of Mrs. Doris
Cantelon on Friday, September
3, with 10 of the 4—H members
present. •
A discussion was held on milk
in all forms available from milk
drinks to cheese.
Faye Cantelon and Linda
Coleman demonstrated "Quick
Cheese Pizza" and Kathy
Tomkins and Kathy Lawrence
served it. The leaders made a
cocoa drink and everyone
enjoyed the food that had been
prepared.
The second meeting was held
at the home of Linda Coleman
the following Tuesday and the
discussion centered on the
nutrients of milk and yogurt.
Kathy Lawrence, Peggy
Richardson and Karen Whitmore
brought ingredients and
demonstrated cream of potato
soup and yogurt dip. Faye and
Linda served the dish.
Island, etc, Mrs,. Fred Middleton
had beep on a sailing cruise up
Lake Ontario and to Parry
Sound. Mrs. Yournatoff had
been to Cornwallis, N,S. The
majority "didn't get off the
reservation."
Mrs, Wise reported that the
June bus trip was very
successful, The itinerary
included the Ontario Science
"Centre, Toronto.
Mrs. Don Middleton gave a
detailed report of the South
Saugeen Deanery meeting held
in St. Thomas' Church,
Walkerton, on June 8. The Fall
Deanery will be held at
Fordwich.
It was decided to again sell
Christmas card's. Mrs, John
Smith is to be in charge,
Mrs. Arthur • Tolchard
conducted a World Tour Contest
and also gaire a hilarious reading
on "Housecleaning". '"Do you
Dreft with the Tide," etc.
Mrs. Don Middleton
conducted an Auditory Contest
where one guessed the identity
of articles dropped behind a
screen — from a pin to a wet rag!
Mrs. Wise closed the meeting
with prayer. A lovely lunch was
served by Mrs. Cole and Mrs.
Dutot. A social hour was
enjoyed as the members
welcomed Mrs. Youmatoff and a
new neighbour, Mrs. Hoggarth,
to their midst.
All present reported a
splendid meeting as the St.
James' group began their Fall
schedule after a two month
recess.
A social evening and dance
will be held in honour of
MR. AND MRS.
SAMUEL OESCH
on the occasion of their 50th
Wedding Anniversary in the
Dashwood Community

Marilyn Ruth Keys, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Keys of
Varna graduated from the two
year Diploma Course at the
Victoria Hospital School of
Nursing in London in a
ceremony held in Centennial
Hall on September 9.
Marilyn, a graduate of Central
Huron Secondary School, joined
the staff of Victoria Hospital in
London on September 7 and is
employed on the Fifth Floor
West. She has taken up residence
in Wellington Towers with her
friend Miss Jane Fowler of
Kitchener, a member of the
same graduating, class.
Following the graduation
ceremony Mrs. Keys and Mrs.
Fowler entertained at their
daughters apartment. Marilyn's
guests included Mr. and .Mrs.
Bruce Keys, Ervin and Barbara,
Mrs. C. H. Keys and Mr. and
Mrs. James Keys all of Varna,
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Reid of
Clinton, Mr. and Mrs, George
Cantelon of Seaforth, Mr. and
Mrs. John Laing and Mr. James
Laing of Mississauga.
Previous to the Graduation a
Father and Daughter Banquet
was held on September 2 and a
Graduation team during the
afternoon of September 9. The
Graduation formal was held on
September 11.
