STERLIN:0::TRUSTS .372 Say Street, TOCIONTO 13Y ERIC EARL Last Wednesday at 7:30 P.m., when I was sitting at my desk in the council chambers waiting for the council meeting to start, Mert Merner rapped on the window and beckoned to Councillor Ted Gozzard to step outside, Ted went out and returned in a minute to inform the Reeve and Councillors that there was a boat in trouble on the lake and he would be back as soon as possible. As I wanted to be where the action was, I followed Ted. I say I followed Ted, but I didn't — I'm a landlubber. I went to the end of the south pier and waved to Ted and Mert as they took Ted's Trimaran out of the harbour. South of the pier in the vicinity of the Wildwood area, Fred Telford's fishing boat lay still on the water with lights flashing and horn honking. Ted headed that way. While the towing job was going on, I watched an angler on the end of the pier hook and land two beautiful bass. He was using crayfish for bait and the fish were around 2 lbs. each. Fred was towed in to the dock so I went to see what had happened, Apparently, Fred had gone out about 5:30 to lift his nets and his motor conked out. After trying to raise someone on his ship-to-shore radio with no success, he started sounding his horn and finally a man by the name of Phillip Webb of Troy, Michigan, (a cottager in that area) contacted the people in the Wildwood Motel and they 'phoned Bayfield and told Mery Merner of the boat in trouble, — Hats off to all who helped Members of Bayfield Trinity and Middleton St. James' Churches and friends of Rev. George Youmatoff attended a Service of Induction at Trinity Church, Bayfield, on Sunday evening, when Reverend Youmatoff was installed as rector of both churches. Twelve area clergymen took part in the service which was conducted by Archdeacon T. D. B. Ragg of Owen Sound, A friend of Rev. Youmatoff, Reverend, John Munro of Brantford, preached the sermon. After the service, a lunch was provided by the ladies' organizations of both churches, The Bayfield Fall • Fair has come and gone once again and to my mind those who didn't attend this event are the losers. This was the one hundred and fifteenth time that the men, women and children of this area have displayed those things that they can prepare, do, or produce best. A list of prizes won appears in this paper. Mrs. Don Johnson has a stray dog, light brown in. colour, around her house and hopes that the owner or someone interested will call her at 565-2838.
