It was announced that the Regional United Church WomeneConvention will be held in Bayfield on Friday October 15. The joint fall thankoffering will be held on October 24 with Lucille Bond as guest speaker, donned a blue flowered polyester crepe dress with white over coat, white accessories and a corsage of red roses. Guests from Ottawa, London, Clinton, Curris, Courtland, Embro and Woodstock attended A former minister at the church Rev. Eagle was fundemental in an expansion programme completed at the church in 1955. He will address the congregation during services scheduled for 11:00 a,m. and 7:00 p.m. on Sunday September 26. The Summerhill Ladies Club met at the home of Ida Wright on September 8. The meeting opened with the singing of "School Days" followed by the Creed and the Lords Prayer. The Roll Call was answered by 19 members and two visitors. The treasurer's report was given by Marianne Colelough. Thank you notes were received by Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Smith, Mrs. McGuire and Helen Good. Ruth Jenkins won a contest on words conducted by Joanne Salverda. Donna Gibbings was the winner of an Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Keys of Varna ere pleased to announce the graduation of their daughter, Marilyn Ruth, from the Victoria Hospital's School of Nursing. Two Year Diploma Course. The ceremony was held in Centennial Hall on September -9, Miss Keys, who is a graduate of the Central Huron Secondary School, has accepted a position on the staff of Victoria Hospital. dime GERRITS—HUININK the wedding. The lunch and programme will be looked after by Phylis Tyndal, Jean Vodden and Sue Vodden. The graduation oromony was held at Centennial Hall in London on Thursday September 9. Joyce has accepted a position On the nursing staff at Victoria Hospital, London. Wesley-Willis -L CW group meets Ont. St.. United Church holds anniversary service UCW meet. The Rev, A. P. Geisterfer officiated at the evening wedding on August 27, 1971 which united in marriage Leida Rerenctina Huinink and Henry Gerrits. The double-ring ceremony took place in First Christian Reformed Church, Woodstock with red roses decorating the sanctuary, The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. Huinink of 340 Kendall Avenue, Woodstock and the groom is the son of Mrs. M. Omits and the late Mr, He Gerrits, RR 1, Clinton. While the organist Mr, J, H. Bergman played traditional wedding music, the bride, gowned in a floor-length dress of white lace on satin, was given in marriage by her father. She wore an elbow-length veil held by a crown of beaded pearls and carried a cascade of red roses and white stephanotis. The maid of honour, Miss Sandra Whitehead, Woodstock were dressed identically in turquoise lace over peau de soie, They carried baskets of yellow and peach roses. Best man was Bill Gerrits, RR 1, Clinton and ushers were Herman Gerrits RR 1, Clinton and Henry Huinink, Woodstock. At the reception which followed at the UAW Hall, Woodstock, the bride's mother received guests wearing a yellow and gold brocade dress with a red rose corsage. She was assisted by the groom's mother who wore a pale blue crimpolene dress with corsage of peach roses. A, Glen Eagle has been invited to attend morning and evening services. On September 8 the women of the Ontario Street United Church Women's group began their fall general meetings with a pot luck supper in the church parlour. Mrs. Norman Trewartha, president, conducted the devotional period assisted by Mrs. Austin Matheson and Mrs. Art Aiken taking as their theme "Friendship," The general meeting of UCW met in the church parlor Wednesday at 8:00 p,m. Mrs. Davies welcomed the ladies to the first meeting of the Fall term and opened with a Poem, "Take Time To Think," Hymn 386 was then sung, Mrs, Florence Oliver, Mrs, Marjorie Porter and Mrs. Mary Murch were in charge of Devotions. Mrs. Oliver asked for a silent prayer and then led in a short prayer. Mrs. Porter read' the 95th Psalm, verses 1.5. The Parable of the three servants was read by Mrs. Murch, Mrs, Oliver closed devotions with another prayer. A solo by Mrs. Alice Andrews, "How Great Thou Art," was then sung, accompanied by Mrs. Ferrol Pennebaker, Mrs. Murch read articles on Women's Lib. and Mconditions concerning our present day youth. A report of Alma College was brought back by Mrs. Oliver and Mrs. Porter who were delegates in August. Another enjoyable solo was sung by Mrs. Andrews, "His Eye Is On The Sparrow." Mrs. Davies then conducted BY MAUDE HEDDEN Hensall Women's Institute held their Fall meeting Wednesday, September 8, in the Legion Hall with vice-president, Mrs. E. Beaton, occupying the chair. Mrs. Clarence Reid was appointed a delegate to the area convention to be held at Clinton, September 30 and October 1. The Huron Historical Society meeting will be held at Dungannon, September 14, Anyone wishing to go please contact Mrs. R. Simpson. Mrs. Pearl Koehler presided for the program. Mrs. Beaton introduced the guest speaker for the evening, Rev. Ivor Bodenharn, who chose for his message, "Public Relations". Shirley and Marilyn Brintnell, Jean Cole and Linda Bell provided musical numbers. Program conveners were Mrs. Koehler and Mrs. Beaton. Hostesses were Mrs. Clarence Reid and Mrs. Wm. Brintnell, Mrs. R. D. Elgie gave curtest' remarks and a pot luck lunch was served, The Fall meeting of the Hensall Legion Ladies Auxiliary was held Tuesday evening, September 7, in the Legion Hall, President, Mrs, E. R. Davis, chaired the meeting. It was announced that the group will cater to two weddings, Plans were made for a Christmas draw and for a New Year's Eve dance, A Bowling Tournament will be held in Wingham, for which teams from this group will participate. Mrs. Grant McClinchey won the mystery prize and Mrs. Howard &nate won the guessing contest. Bingo and a pot lack lunch was enjoyed. Mrs. J. L. McCloy and daughters, Cathy and Carrie, of London and Don Mills, visited recently with Mrs. Alma Hess. Unit 4 of Hensall United Church met on Thursday, September 9, with Mrs. James McAllister presiding, Thought for the day was "Nature Is God's Voice Speaking In Every Season". The Devotional was taken by Greta Latrntiie considering "Compassion, A Christleke Quality", The study period on Alaska was conducted by Mrs. Harry Caldwell. Mrs. Emit %and Mts, Rowe received the offering. Reports were given by the treasurer, Mrs, Tom Shertitt, showing $3/5.35 in the M. and M. and $97,00 froth quilting. Plans were made for the the 'business, Correspondenee Was read by Mrs. ROY There were two letters from our Foster Child, The secretary read five recommendations. These were voted on and carried, The Annual Kress Kringle 'coffee Klatch and Boutique will be held October 30 at 10 a.m. Our Thankoffering meeting will be October 24 in Wesley-Willis Church, The speaker will be Miss Lucille Bond who has spent the last few months in Nicaragua. The Regional UCW meeting is to be held in Bayfield October 13 with Mrs,. Fingland as guest speaker in the morning and Rev. Stanley McDonald of Londesboro will speak in the afternoon. A noon luncheon will be available. The usual committee reports were read, A bale of good used clothing will be packed early in October. The Morning Glories are planning a Feshion Show put on by Bainton's of Blyth in the Public School at 8:30 September 30. The meeting closed with the singing of another hymn. The closing hymn was 297, followed by prayer. Mrs, Harry Caldwell, R. R. 2, Kippen; Mrs. Wm, Caldwell, Exeter; Mrs. Stirling Graham, Staffa; and Mrs. Wm. Sinclair, Clinton; have returned from a tour of the Peace River District, the Yukon, Alaska and British Columbia by plane, bus, boat and train, for a total of 11,000 miles. The residents of Hensall and community were saddened to learn of the passing of a highly respected citizen, Mrs. Wm. T. Kyle of Hensall, who passed away in South Huron Hospital, Exeter, September 11. The former Florence Vennor, in her 65th year, she is survived by her husband; two sons, Tom of Lucan and Al at home; two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Wilma) Caldwell of Hensall and Mrs. James (Bonnie) Bozzato of Port Colborne; and two brothers, Lloyd and Jim, of Hensel). The late Mrs. Kyle was a member of Amber Rebekah Lodge, Hensall, a member of the Kipper) East Women's Institute, and a member of Kippen United Church. Public funeral service was .from the Bonthron Funeral Home, Hensel', Monday, September 13, at 2:00 p.m„ conducted by the Rev. Packman. Burial was in Baird's Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ross l3roadfoot, Joe MeLellan, W. J. F. Bell, Robert McGregor, Wayne McBride and Bob Leppington. Flowerbearers were Lewis Clark, John Anderson, Sandy Pepper and James Caldwell. Amber Rebekah Lodge conducted a service at the chapel in rememberanee on Sunday evening. Unit 1 of the Hensall United Church Women met on Thursday, September 0, in the church, with 13 members present. Mrs. Albert Shirray presided for the meeting and also gave the Devotional' entitled, "Man Can Not Live Without God". Mrs. Harvey keys gave the study on three teenage missionaries in Brazil, The general meeting is to be held oh September 20, with Unit 4 in charge.
