The new houses will nearly double the number of homes in the area. The first house in the town's other subdivision, Huron Pines has also been started. This one is being built on Ontario Street. Another is under construction on Princess St. New Goderich school trustee apponsted Monday George Parsons, general manager of Goderich Elevator and Transit Company, has been appointed to the Huron County Board of Education to replace Dr. Barry Deathe of Goderich, who resigned this summer during a dispute concerning secondary teachers' salary negotiations. E. C. Hill, who was appointed to the board to replace the other Goderich member who resigned, Mrs. J. W. Wallace, was present at Monday evening's board meeting and was officially sworn into office. With the appointment of Mr. Parsons, the board of education in Huron is now back to full strength --16 members. Chairman of the committee to appoint new board members, John Broadfoot, commented on the calibre of men who have made themselves available to serve on this board. "I am very happy and proud to have had a small part in it," said Broadfoot. Hill was welcomed on behalf of all the board members by the chairman of the board, Robert Elliott. In a brief statement, Hill said he is anxious to assist the board in any way he is able . . „ "particularly with regard to education". Bruce Williscraft, who will be manager of the Clinton plant, was in town Tuesday to inspect the work and said he was satisfied the work was proceeding well. If the weather remained .good until after the cement work was done, he said, there should be no problem finishing the plant on time. Bye, Bye Bain NDP executive supports suspension The Executive of the New Democratic Party of Ontario at its last regular meeting in Toronto, August 8, supported the action of the Huron NDP Riding Association with regard to the suspension of Ed Bain. Mr, Bain has been notified of the Provincial Executive action by Gard Brigden, Provincial Secretary. Under the New Democratic Party constitution, Mr. Bain has the right of appeal if he feels there has been any injustice in this action. At an executive meeting in Goderieh, Sunday night, the Huron ND? Riding Association completed its organization of Huron Riding Or the upciaining Provincial election with intensive campaigning to begin Monday, August 16. Candidate Paul Carroll, Reeve of Goderich, advised that the sign shop will finish the first 2000 lawn signs this week and all campaign literature has been printed with the exception of the final leaflet. Candidate Carroll has completed personal calls on 1200 voters to date and reception has been excellent. He supports the statement made by Pat Chefurka, North Middlesex NDP candidate, who indicated last week that the rural vote is switching to ND?. Carroll expressed concern about the widespread level of poverty noted in areas of Huron Riding and suggested that you had to get just one concession road away from the main arteries to discover the true living conditions in some of the rural areas.
