The Canadian Foresters held
their bus trip on Tuesday, July
27, touring Ontario Place at
Toronto and the Lions' Safari at
Rockton.
Kim and Greg Riley of
Winthrop spent the weekend
with their grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. Frank Riley.
Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Nolan
and boys of Toronto spent the
holiday weekend at their
summer home in the village.
Mrs. Irene Grimoldby is
visiting with Mr. and Mrs. John
Mann of Clinton.
Mrs. Bob Storey and Mr. and
Mrs. Ben Riley attended the
Stoll—Riley wedding in
Londesboro on Friday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Livingston
have arrived home from a two
week tour of the Maritime

More than 30 attend Cheerio picnic Auburn's Walkerburn Club holds
at Benmiller Park family picnic
VVALKEROURN CLUB
Around 50 persons attended •
the annual •Walkerburn.. Club
family picnic held last Thursday
evening at the Benmiller Falls
Park, A short business meeting
was held following the supper
and items of business were
discussed.
The Auburn librarian requests
all county library books to be in
August 7.
William Wood returned
recently from a trip with his son,
James H. Wood, of Montreal, to
Timmins and down through
Michigan.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Armstrong
arrived home last weekend from
their honeymoon and have taken
up residence on their farm at R.
R. 2, Auburn.
Miss Gail Miller of Toronto
spent the holiday with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
Miller.
An invitation to attend the
August meeting, of the Auburn
Women's Institute was accepted.
Everyone took part in the
contests, races and sports in the
charge of Mrs. Walter
Cunningham, Mrs, Garth
McClinchev and Mrs, Lloyd
IVIcelinchey.
Miss Brenda Archambault of
Toronto is visiting with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Len
Archambault, and family for a
week.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Christie
of Melbourne, Australia, are
visiting with Mrs. Ralph Munro.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Finnigan of
Goderich were guests on
Saturday evening with Mr. and
Mrs. Robert J. Phillips.
Mrs. Louis Wagner and her
daughter, Mrs. George Kailas,
Kelly and Kim of Masselon,
Ohio, visited with relatives,
Misses Ella and Minnie Wagner,

Funeral service was held on
Monday, August 2, for J. H.
Leslie Schultz, who passed away
suddenly at his home in
Dungannon, July 31.
Born on June 22, 1901, in
Auburn, he was the son of the
late John Schultz and Barbara
Youngblut. He lived in Colborne
Township and attended S.S. No.
5, Hullett. He was a blacksmith
in Dungannon for 48 years.
He was married in 1927 in
Auburn to the former Mary
Hardy, who survives him.
He was a member of the
Dungannon United Church.
Besides his wife, he is
survived by one son, Gordon,

service, and burial took place in
Dungannon Cemetery.

canvassing is proceeding well. He
is presently working in the
southern townships and villages.
The secretary reported that
the New Democratic party
Provincial. Council Executive will
meet on August 4, and will
consider the suspension of Ed
Bain from membership in the
Huron Riding Association which
took place at a general
membership meeting on July 6
in Clinton, as well as their
request for expulsion from the
party, Gord Brigden, Prov. Sec.,
will issue a statement following
that meeting.
A corn roast will be held on
August 11 at 7:00 p.m. at the
home of Herb and Donna Klopp,
R.R. 3, Zurich, which is just
west of Zurich on Highway 84.
An auction sale is scheduled
fox August 21 at 1:00 p.m. at
Fisher's in Clinton. Items
ranging from original paintings,
to bicycles, to antiques will be
available. •

The Cheerio Club held their
picnic on Tuesday, July 27, on
the spacious lawn of Emma
Livingstone with men and senior
citizens as , guests. Over 30
persons were present.
Cards were played followed
by several contests; guessing
beans in a jar was won by Gladys
Armstrong; naming articles on a
tray, Cathy Husking and Trie
Duizer tied; guessing contents of
a parcel, Ida Durnin; drawing a
picture blind folded, Robert
Watson; throwing a cup of
water, Jack Armstrong; spot on
lawn, Trie Duizer.
Ena Howatt spoke a few
words and Ida Durnin presented
Mabel Scott with a gift from her
friends. Mabel is leaving the
community to live with her
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Allister
Broadfoot, R. R. 3, Seaforth.
Mabel thanked all and hoped to
be back with us as often as
possible. Ail sat down to a lovely
lunch.
Jack Armstrong thanked the
cheerio members for their
invitation, the committee wrio
prepared the picnic, and. Emma
Livingstone for use of her home,
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Shobbrook
were dinner guests on Thurday
with Mr. and Mrs. Art Clark at
their trailer home at Meneset

to their home in Niagara Falls
