returned home on Friday night
after spending some time visiting
in Calgary.
Mr. and Mrs. R. N. Alexander
returned home on Monday
afternoon after a montih's trip to
Western Canada attending a seed
growers meeting at Saskatoon,
spending last week. with their
daughter and family, Mr. and
Mrs. Don Cousineau, Donald and
Jimmie at Webbwood, Ontario.
John and Sarah 'Willson of
Woodstock spent Monday to
Saturday, July 24 with her
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. B.
Shobbrook.
Rev. McDonald and Murray
flunking spent Monday night in
Bolton then travelled to Ottawa
and Morrisburg taking the St.
Lawrence Seaway route home
on Friday night, July 23.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe. Crosota,
Joey and Brian returned to their
home in Detroit on Friday after
spending some time with her
mother Mrs. Harvey flunking.
Dora Lynn Ellerby of Clinton
visited with grandparents, Mr.
and Mrs, B. Shobbrook this past
week from Sunday to Friday.
Mrs. John and Mrs. Ben Riley
were hostesses on Tuesday night,
July 20 for at shower for their
naive Jannette Riley, bride-elect,
when around 50 friends,
neighbours and relatives
attended. Some contests took
place. The elimination contest
was won by Dorothy Shepherd;
oldest lady present was Mary
Jane Haggarth; and longest
married was Mary Dale. An
address was read by Dorothy
Bedard and gifts were presented
by Lorna Riley, Bonnie Storey,
Debbie Bedard and Ruth
Shepherd.
Jannette was assisted by her
sister Linda Storey. Jannette
thanked all for gifts and her
aunts for the shower inviting all
to come and see her in her home
at Woodham. Lunch was served.
After lunch a lucky saucer
contest was won by Mrs.
Williams; lucky water glass by
Terry Flynn; lucky cup, Mary
Dale.
Attending Grand Lodge
sessions in Toronto on
Wednesday, July 21 from this
area were Mr. Claire Vincent Sr.,
and Gordon and Bert
Shobbrook.
During the storm Thursday
morning the barn on the farm of
Mr. and Mrs. Allen Shaddick was
struck by lightning and burnt
along with the season's hay crop.
Mrs, Allen Shaddick is a
patient in Clinton Hospital
following surgery last Monday.
Mrs. Gordon Howatt is a
patient in Clinton Hospital
following surgery.
Mrs. Harvey flunking went to
Goderich Friday evening to
spend a week with her daughter,
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Moore.

July 20, when visited by Mr. and

Holland, on a trip with their son
from Detroit to Niagara Falls,
Toronto to "Londesboro and
back to Detroit. •

Miss Helen Good and Miss

returned home by plane Sunday

A farewell party was held in
the LO,O,F, hall on Friday night
for Mr. and Mrs. Burdge who
have moved to Angus. Mr.
Burdge is employed at Camp
Borden.
Hostesses for the evening
were Mrs. V. Hargreaves, Mrs. J.
Broadfoot and Mrs. W. Jackson.
Progressive euchre was played
during the evening with winners
being: high for men, W. D.
Wilson; ladies, Joan Aldwinkle;
men's low, V, Hargreave; ladies,
Mrs. Thomson,
Later in the evening Mr. and
Mrs. Burdge were called to the
front where they were presented
with a swag lamp and Marlene
with ear rings and a piece of blue
mountain pottery. Mr. and Mrs.
Burdge thanked their many
friends, "For they are Jolly
Good Fellows" was sung. A
dainty lunch was served by the
ladies in charge, .
