'Safety'tips Many drivers do not know how to set their parking brake correctly, says the Ontario Safety League. The regular service brake should be pressed down firmly at the same time as the parking brake is applied. If this is not done, the travel arc of the brake shoes brings the lower lip into contact with the drums first; this leaves the shoes only lightly in contact with the drums, making it easier for the car to roll away, especially backwards. Another tip: for easy release on most cars, hold foot firmly against parking brake pedal and pull the release handle andhold while you let the pedal up slowly. It avoids that loud bang. , BY MRS. MAuDE HEDDEN The three weeks of planned recreation for the children of Hensel, began on Monday, July 12, under the direction of Mrs. , Archie Couper, Cathy Cook and Sheila Sangster, who attended a Playground Leaders' Course in Owen Sound, are the two leaders, and are assisted by volunteers, Bonnie Sangster, Joan Goddard, Jane Heal, Joan Allan, Christine Vanstone, Kevin Bisback and Tony Kyle. Between 60 and 70 children registered the first day. Cathy and Joan are introducing drama and puppetry to the playground this year and their plays will be made up by the children and acted in the I park. Sheila is organizing handcrafts for the small children and Bonnie and Chris will teach a group macrame. Mrs. Couper is working with a group weaving belts on backstrap looms. Those boys interested in sports have Tony and Kevin to organize ball games. The recreation period will end with roller skating in the arena and a sing-song with Cathy at the guitar. Wednesday puppetry will be the chief activity and Friday a scavenger hunt will take place. For the week following, the boys will make bird feeders and the special event will be a bicycle rodeo. The last week of recreation will be spent practicing plays and puppet plays and finishing handcrafts and on Wednesday the special event will be a family AIDS of THAN OATHS Passed away in Hospital on ly 7, 1971, Jessie V . la (formerly Jessie Yungblut) widow of John dden, of Londesboro, The was held at Londesboro d Church on Pri4ny, July 971, with interment in n Cemetery, LEPPINGT family of the late Mrs. John Leppi man of R.
