Mrs. Lorne Jervis was in charge of the program, Her study was on Brazil and many of the ladies read important statements concerning Brazil, A Brazilian Folk Song from the Evangelical Hymn Book of Brazil was sung. Jean Livermore told of four girls who went to Brazil during their summer vacations. Mrs. Cummings, Mrs. Rathwell and Mrs. Stewart told of the girls adventures and the most important idea brought back was that the Brazilian people were happy that Canadians cared enough to go there to help. The regular business was conducted by Mrs. Fingland. The ladies brought in their "Cent.A-Day" money. Mrs. Reid counted 12 home and 12 hospital calls. Three ladies had birthdays. The Afternoon Group will close for July and August. They will resume meeting again September 16 with a pot-luck luncheon. Please remember the bazaar coming up in October. CAMPBELL: Passed away at home on Friday, June 25, 1971, Mary Charlotte Campbell, widow of George B. Campbell, in her 82nd year. She is survived by three sons, Ellwood, of Port Credit, George and Robert, of Clinton and Jessie (Mrs. H. L. Bastock), Greenwood, Nova Scotia. The funeral was held at 13all Funeral Home, Clinton on Monday, Jude 28 with interment in Clinton Cemetery. NOONAN: Passed away at Clinton Public Hospital on Sunday, June 27, 1971, Harold Ford (Pat) Noonan, in his 70th year. Beloved husband of Ann Stewart and father of Adam of Toronto. Beth Makins, -26p Local obituaries JAMES GREYDANUS James Greydanus of R, R. 1, Clinton, died Saturday, June 26, 1971, at Alexandra Marine and General Hospital, Goderich. He was born in Holland on June 1, 1910, the son of Jacob and Saakje Greydanus. He married Berber Tilstra on March 5, 1936. He was a farmer all his life, and had lived at R. R. 1, Clinton, for 22 years and at New Hamburg and Holmesville before coming to this area. He was a member of the Clinton Christian Reform Church. Surviving, besides his wife, are three sons, Jack of Brussels, Belgium; Gerry and Harry at home; and one daughter, Mrs. Leo Dykstra (Francine). Also surviving are six sisters: Mrs. Siem Montsma, Anjum, Holland; Mrs. Hielkje Dykstra, Rotterdam, Holland; Mrs. Peter (Neelgje) Damsma, Kitchener; Mrs. Tjebbe (Klaske) Tibma, Anjum, Holland; Mrs. Lambert (Boukje) Haasjes; and Mrs. Cornelius (Betty) Buruma, R. R. 2, Clinton. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 29, from the Christian Reform Church, Clinton, with the Rev. A. Beukema in charge. Burial was in Clinton cemetery. Pallbearers were Cornelius Buruma, Leo Dykstra, Peter Damsma, Jacob Greydanus, Gerry Greydanus and Harry Greydanus. LAURENCE FORREST Laurence Forrest of Clinton, died June 17, 1971, in Clinton Public Hospital. ' Mr. Forrest was born in Stanley Township on February 2, 1891, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William R. Forrest, He married Elsie McQueen in 1916. She survives him. He was a farmer, then a truck driver and was employed by John Labatt Ltd. in London. Before coming to Clinton three years ago, he had lived in London and R. R. 2, Lambeth. Mr. Forrest was a member of Kilworth United Church and of L.T.B.O., Lodge 509, Covenant RBP, No. 346, and Hackett L.O.L,, all of London, and of Brucefield I.O.O.F., Lodge No. 210, He is survived by 10 grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. James (Beth) Makins. Funeral services were held from the Ball Funeral Home, Clinton, on June 21, 1971, with Rev. T. C. Mulholland officiating. Burial was in Baird's cemetery. Pallbearers were L. K. Epps, W. R. Hooper, and P. L. Tester, all of London, and Gregor McGregor, J. K. Cornish and John Broadfoot of Brucefield. FlOwerbearers were Pied Mcelymont and Watson Webster of Varna. Relatives and friends front London, AlvinatOn ' Goderich and Latnbeth attended the funeral,_ A delightful afternoon was spent at Clinton Public School, Friday, when pupils of several classrooms and many parents were entertained by pupils of Mrs. Taylor's Grade One class and Mrs. Jones' Grade One class. The numbers were introduced by Kristine Corrie of Mrs, Taylor's class. The program was as follows; Jello commercials; chorus entitled "Twenty Froggies"; song- a little. girl's quarrel - Doirt-W-aiit-To Play In Your Yard" - featuring Lisa Chabot and Ann Diechert; song, "King Of The Rhythm Band"; solo, "Oh I Went To See The Clinton Fair" by Jim Fleming; recitation, "Week Day Happenings" - Monday, Ann Diechert, Tuesday, Kris Corrie, Wednesday, Lisa Chabot, Thursday, Geraldine McGee, Friday, Brenda Rich!, Saturday, Lana Lockwood, and Sunday, Elizabeth Walden; song - "Lonely Little Petunia", featuring Linda _McKellar as "Petunia", A play called "Three Billy Goats Gruff" was presented With the baby goat played by David Eckert; middle billy goat, Steven Baiessey; great big billy goat, John Morgan; and ugly troll, Tim Addison. The entire program was interspersed by Jello commercials, who sponsored the production. Mrs. Jones' class performed: Dance - "Come And Be My Partner"; "Lillipop Tree", chorus; chorus, "What Thrte Is it Old Witch?", with the witch, Anita Bakelaar; song, "Ghe Gooney Bird"; chorus, "Kum-Ba-Yah"; play, "A Sad Little Boy". The play was introduced by Darrel Fox. The program ended with a chorus by both classes - "Doh, Rah, Me". The afternoon closed by everyone singing "Oh Canada", Middleton A double presentation party honoring two neighborhood newlywed couples was held last Wednesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Postell of the Bayfield Line. There were nearly 50 persons present. Mr. and Mrs. Case Postma (nee Sliegstra) and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Postill (nee Linda Torrance) were the guests of honour, The father of one of the brides, Mr. Peter Steegstra showed lovely pictures of the Postma-Steegstra wedding held in Clinton. The presentation address was read by Mr. Don Taylor and the gifts presented by Messrs. Bob Stirling and Don Middleton. The Postmas received a chair and the Postills a swag lamp, The bridegrooms thanked their friends for their lovely gifts. A delicious lunch was served. All present report an enjoyable evening and that it was good to get mit and see one's next door neighbours. These occasions are rare indeed in a country community nowadays as everyone's interests are diveraified and far-ranging as in a city block, Miss Kathleen MeNaughton of London is a guest of her cousin Mrs. Fred Middleton, .Auburn Mr. and Mrs. George Rueger, Danny and Terry of London, visited on Sunday with Mr, and Mrs. Donald Cartwright, David Derrick and Lofie. Guests last Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. George Millian were Mr. and Mrs. Douglas McNeill and Miss Mary Louise McNeill of Nile, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Treble of London, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Thomson, Mark, Cheryl and Pamela Sue of Stratford, Mrs. Charles Mitchell and Mr, Larry Mitchell RR 5, Goderich. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Williams. of Stoney Creek 'visited Mr. and Mrs. Donald Cartwright and family last Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Kirkconnell received word last week that their granddaughters the Misses Faye and Mary Anne Blake of Brussels were among the honour students of Seaforth High School who were awarded the trip to Washington, They visited the White House and Arlington Cemetery and other historic places. Congratulations to these girls who are often visiting their grandparents here in the village. Mrs. J. W. Counter (left) holds the silver rose bowl from the Royal Bank of Canada, which she won by amassing the highest total of points among exhibitors at the Rose Show on Friday, Mrs. Counter had 33 points and also had the champion rose of the show, which is held here by Mrs. Don Pullen, President of the Horticultural Society, who was also runner-up in the points standing, with 17. Marg Counter wins Rose Show bowl Mrs. J. W. (Marg) Counter won the Royal Bank of Canada silver rose bowl Friday night, after she scored the highest number of points in the annual Rose Show sponsored by the Clinton Horticultural Society. Mrs. Counter scored 33 points, far ahead of her nearest competitor. She said modestly after the show that she had been lucky to have her roses in peak shape just in time for the show. Mrs. Counter also won the Bank of Montreal prize for having the champion rose in the show, which had 168 entries. The Red Rose Tea trophy for the best red rose in the show went to Mrs. B. Olde, Second highest in the point standings was Mrs. Don (Florence) Pullen, who is also President of the Society. She had 17 points. Third was Mrs, R. B. Campbell, with 11 points. Cindy Middleton won a book and one dollar for being top exhibitor in the children's category, where there were 16 entries. The children also had a contest to make a plaque for grandmother's parlour and Adrienne Woods won first place, Cindy Middleton second, and Jane Symons third, Door prizes were won by Bill Hearn, Helen Davies (rose food from Clinton Farm and Garden Centre), Ceriel Van Demme and Eileen Craig, (Discount Food).
