Fellow Citizens Of Huron:
Why NDP? That question has been voiced
this week to the degree that I hoped it
would be. Many of you have come to me
and asked that question and I know that
many of you are asking each other.
The answer is quite simple: The NDP is the
only political party with the policies for a
just government in Ontario. It is the only
party promoting a truly democratic society
where all men are accepted as men of equal
worth. it is the party whose policies directly
reflect the wishes of our people.
The NDP is people... People concerned with
real problems and people with solid answers to solve those problems.
I have taken my stand as the candidate for the NDP knowing full well the obstacles
before me..., Knowing full well that many of the citizens in Huron have yet to learn the
true meaning and worth of the New Democratic Party.
It is with this feeling that I accept the challenge of presenting to the citizens of Huron a
sound policy for government in Ontario. It is with this feeling that 1 will go out to you in
the coming months to acquaint you with NDP.
Respectfully,
PAUL CARROLL

Huron moves
toward
official plan
Since its creation in late 1968
the County of Huron Planning
Board has been actively pursuing
the preparation of an Official
Plan to promote and guide
development throughout the
County. The consulting firm of
G, V. Kleinfeldt and Associates
was engaged in the summer of
1969 and 'they- have now
completed a draft Official Plan
for Huron County.
The plan, when adopted, will
provide County Council and the
Planning Board with "the
necessary and appropriate
administrative tools to guide and
direct the development of all the
municipalities in the County in a
manner deemed to be in the
public interest". The plan will be
the County's "Statement of
Policy" on land use, it will
provide "guidance and
direction" to both public and
private interests.
The plan sets out suggested
policy on such issues as: (a)
recreational development on the
Lake Huron Shore; (b) urban
development; (c) rural
development; (d) future
municipal planning.
The consultants, under the
direction of the Planning Board,
prepared the draft plan. This
draft plan is not yet an Official
Plan. Before the plan becomes
official, local municipal councils
and the public at large must
comment on the draft plan.
Based on these comments
County Council will submit a
draft plan to the Minister of
Municipal Affairs for his
approval. Upon approval by the
Minister the draft plan becomes
the Official Plan.
The purpose of public
meetings is to let you, the
public, make your feelings,
either pro or con, known to
County Council, the Planning
Board and the Planning
Department. Based on your
comments an effective plan can
be developed and implemented.
You can obtain a copy of the
draft plan through any library in
the County. Also, your
councillors have copies. You can
get involved by attending
meetings in Exeter, Tuesday,
July 20, 8:30 p.m.; Clinton,
Thursday, July 22, 8:30 p.m. or
Wingham, Monday, July 26,
8:30 p.m.
