On June 12, 1971 the
members of the Clinton Ladies
Rifle Club and their husbands
attended a banquet at the
Clinton Legion Hall to mark the
end of their 1970-71 year and to
present its members with the
awards earned during the past
year.
The Club participated in two
competitions. One sponsored by
C.I.L. Industries and the other
by Gevelot of Canada. Following
are the names of those who
received the C.I.L. Bronze, Silver
and Gold pins for prone
position: Betty Andari, Pauline
McMichael, Joyce Cook and
Elaine Boyes who received her
Bronze pin.
C.I.L. Sitting crests were
awarded to Marian McCann and
Marj. Collins.

Paul G. Parsons, 12, of 128
West Street, Goderich, was
adjudged the winner of the prize
for best decorated boat
participating in the third annual
Sail Past conducted by Goderich
Power Squadron in Goderich
Harbour, Sunday afternoon.
A member of the 1970-71
Piloting Class given by the Power
Squadron, Paul led off the Sail
Past in his little sailing craft with
home-made sail.
Honourable mention was
accorded Ted Davies, Clinton,
commodore of Bayfield Yacht
Club, on his sailboat with
patriotic and floral motif; and R.
S. "Dick" Atkey, Clinton, for
his "flags-of-Canada" approach
in a national setting on his
inboard-outboard runabout,
"Miss Clinton".
Western Ontario District
Commander., Roy P. Nield,
Sarnia, assisted by Squadron
Commander E. B. Menzies,
Clinton, took the salute from
the south pier, flanked by large
Canadian and Canadian Power
Squadron flags.
Thirty-eight boats
participated in the Sail Pasty
including 15 sail boats, as against
18 all told last year when
weather conditions Were
Unfavourable. One thousand
people lined vantage points hi
Goderich Harbour to view the
Sail Past.

The B ladies' open class was won by
Linda Godkila, 12, of Walton. Second was
Mrs. Ruby Little of Parkhill.

Along with his renewal to the
paper for another year, Mr.
Ft%nk Whitmore of Hamilton
sent a letter saying he thinks he
has been a subscriber for
fifty-five years. This surely must
be a record of some kind. We'd
be interested to hear if there are
any others who have had
subscriptions as long as that or
perhaps longer.

Two carloads of Rebekahs
and Oddfellows from Clinton
participated in the Guard of
Honour when Benson Sutter was
installed as Grand Patriarch of
Ontario.

Harry Weymouth of the
Clinton IOOF attended Grand
Lodge sessions in Toronto last
week and was present at Benson
Sutter's installation.

Visiting the Clinton and
Blyth area for a month are Mr.
and Mrs. John Gould, Council,
Idaho. They motored from
Idaho to Thunder Bay with Mr.
and Mrs. Stewart Young of that
city. The former is a brother of
Mrs. Gould.
From Thunder Bay they flew
to Toronto and were met by Mr.
and Mrs. Henry Young of
Clinton and John Young of
Blyth, both brothers of Mrs.
Gould. Prior to 1950, Mrs.
Gould was the former Myrtle
Young Murray and had nursed
for approximately 25 years in
various parts of, Ontario and in
Clinton Public Hospital. In 1950
she married John Gould and
took up residence in Idaho and
has been ranching for the last 21
years.

The second annual golf
tournament for teachers from all
parts of Huron and Perth
Counties was held at Oakwood
Golf Club, Grand Bend recently.
Fifty-four golfers from
elementary (both Public and
Separate) and high schools in
Wingham, Clinton, Exeter,
Seaforth, Stratford, Mitchell, St.
Marys, Listowel and St.
Columban participated. Last
year only 16 persons took part.
Mrs. Donna Hannon, a
teacher at Central Huron
Secondary School, was the
women's winner of the All Pro
Sport Trophy with a 50 for nine
holes. The Men's winner of the
Labatt's Trophy was Harold
Wisternoff of Listowel . High
School with 39 for nine hdles.

F/0 Reg Cook of London is
visiting with his mother, Mrs.
Ellen Cook for a few days.

Mrs. Don Pullen is very proud
of her Irish setter, "Shillalah's
Red Rogue". He was shown at
the "Save The Children Dog
Show" in Ottawa on June 17
and 18 and won Best Canadian
Bred both days, He won two
firsts for a total of four points
which brought hiS total to 10
points, giving him his Canadian
championship.

Grand of Huron Rebekah Lodge,
Clinton, presided at the last
meeting of this season op
Monday evening. The election of
officers for the next year was
held and results are as follows:

lodge, reported on the Rebekah
Assembly of Ontario held at the
Royal York Hotel last week.
The group is invited to a pot
luck supper at the summer
cottage of Mrs. Clete Holland on
June 30 with transportation
being arranged by Norma and
Mary Grigg.

was spent at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Jerry Cook on Sunday,
June 13. The occasion was the
25th wedding anniversary of Mr.
and Mrs. Don Buchanan, RR 1,
Londesboro. Those attending
were Mr. and Mrs. Alf Buchanan,
Clinton, Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred
Buchanan, John and David of
Ilderton and Paul, Donna and
Gary of Londesboro. After an
outdoor supper the family
