The church was decorated
with yellow shasta daisy and
white gladioli for the candlelight
:erernony. Rev. Dr. A. J.
Vlo w a tt officiated at the
fouble-ring ceremony.
Traditional wedding music was
played by Mr. Lorne Dotterer.
The bride given in marriage
oy her father wore a floor-length
gown of crepe de chine,
'ashioned on Juliet lines, with
bishop sleeves and bodice
embroidery. A Juliet cap held
her chapel-length veil in place.
She carried a bouquet of white
miniature carnations with yellow
sweetheart roses.
Miss Rhonda Rathwell, maid
of honour, wore a gown of pink
polyester crepe with
empire-waistline and long
self-ruffled sleeve and lace
bolero jacket. She carried a lace
fan with yellow shasta daisies.
The bridesmaids, Miss Debbie
Johnston and Miss Marie
Johnston, sisters of the bride
were in gowns of turquoise and
yellow, styled identical to that
of the maid of honour and
carried lace fans with yellow
shasta daisies.
The flower girl, Miss Joanne
Middleton wore a mauve gown
dentical to that of the maid of
honour and carried a nosegay of
yellow shasta daisies.
Mr. Mario Uchman of
Thunder Bay, was best man.
Guests were ushered by Mr.
Gary Black, Clinton and Mr,
Ronald Doust, Thunder Bay.
The bride's mother received
guests at a reception in the Orbit
Room at Adastral Park. She
chose a white and mauve
polyester knit dress with mauve
accessories and pink corsage.
Assisting her was the groom's
mother, wearing a crepe dress of
robin-egg blue with matching
coat and corsage of pink.
The bride later changed to a
navy figured polyester crepe
dress with white accessories and
corsage of white carnations. The
bride and groom will make their
home at Thunder Bay.
Among the guests was the
great-grandmother of the bride,
Mrs. James Taylor of Wingham.
Other guests were present from
Powell River, B.C; Thunder Bay,
Solon, Ohio; London, Glencoe,
Wingham, Lucknow, Teeswater,
Listowel, Auburn, St, Pauls,
Seaforth; Belgrave, Brussels,
Bayfield, Stratford and the
Clinton area.
Prior to her marriage, the
bride was feted at several events.
A shower was given by Miss
Rhonda Rathwell, for girl
friends of the bride, a relative
shower was held at the home of
Mrs. James Johnston, Listowel
and she was assisted by Mrs.
Jack Johnston. Mrs. David
Middleton held a shower for
neighbours and friends.
St, Joseph's Roman Catholic
Church, Clinton was decorated
with baskets of pink gladioli and
shasta daisies at the altar with
candelabra on either side for the
wedding of Michael Pierre
Boucher and Julie Dianne Cox
on May I, 1971.
The groom is the son of Mrs.
Lucy Boucher and the late
Albert Boucher of London and
the bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Elgin Cox, of RR 2
Goderich. Father J. Kelly
officiated at the double-ring
ceremony with Mrs. Molly Cox
as soloist and Mrs, Carol LeBeau,
organist. Mrs. Cox sang the
Marriage Hymn, Whither Thou
Goest and The Lord is My
Shepherd.
The bride was given in
marriage by her father and chose
a white floorlength gown of silk
organza styled with a high
Victorian neckline and a full
skirt gathered from an empire
waistline. Bands of guipure daisy
lace and pink embroidered
ribbon accented the front bodice
and sheer bouffant sleeves, A
sheer butterfly train fell from
the back, The bride also wore, a
pillbox headpiece similarly
trimmed with lace and pink
ribbon with a two-tiered, lace
outlined, French illusion veil.
Accenting the pink of the gown,
the bride carried a cascade of
pink rose buds and eucalyptus.
The matron of honour was
Mrs. Roberta Millar of Galt and
wore a lime-green chiffon,
floorlength gown with a mint
green taffeta underdress. The
gathered skirt was accented by
an empire waistline in pale green
florets. Likewise the
t h re e-q uarte r-leneth, sheer
gathered sleeves and stand-up
collar featured embroidered
florets.
Pale green ribbon bows with
florets throughout her hair and a
cascade of green-tinted shasta
daisies completed her ensemble.
Miss Elaine Townshend, RR
2, Bayfield, one of the
bridesmaids, was gowned
identically do the matron of
honour in pink chiffon over
tafeta accented by a corsage of
pink-tinted carnations. The
junior bridesmaid, Miss Marilyn
Cox, sister of the bride, was
similarly dressed in a pale yellow
chiffon over taffeta gown and
carried a cascade of yellow
tinted shasta daisies.
Groomsman was Robert
Boucher, brother of the groom
from Trenton and Mr. Laurie
Cox and Mr. Kevin Cox,
brothers of the bride were
ushers.
At a reception held at the
Hotel Clinton following the
ceremony, the bride's mother
wore a coat and dress ensemble
of orange ice linen shantung
accented by a white daisy veil,
white " shoes and handbag. She
wore a corsage of yellow rose
buds.
She was assisted by the
groom's mother who wore a grey
and blue print silk sheath and
matching pale blue linen coat.
She wore a self-band hat
matching the dress, black patent
handbag and shoes and a corsage
of yellow rosebuds,
For the wedding trip to
Niagara Falls, Trenton and
points east, the bride wore a
two-piece ensemble of natural
crimp knit with three-quarter
tailored jacket with buckled self
belt and an A-line skirt, scarf in
brown tones, matching shoes
and a brown handbag. She wore
a corsage of yellow rose buds.
The couple will reside at 1223
Richmond St. North, London.
Prior to her wedding, the
bride was honoured at several
showers. Fellow workers at
Alexandra. Marine and General
Hospital held a shower hosted
by Mrs. Norah Profit. Miss
Elaine ToWnshend hosted a
shower of neighbours and Mrs.
Estelle and Miss Pat Wise hosted
a shower of cousins of the bride.
The Rev. J. J. Hoytema of
Grimsby performed the marriage
ceremony at the Christian
Reformed Church, Clinton, on
May 7, 1971, which united Alita
Steegstra and Case Postma. The
bride is the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Peter Steegstra, Clinton,
and the groom is the son of Mr.
and Mrs, Bart Postma, Clinton.
Attending the bride as
matron of honour was Mrs.
Gertie Buruma, Sarnia; and her
bridesmaids were Joanne
LOTTIE VICTORIA SLOMAN
Lottie Victoria Sloman of
Huronview, died in Clinton on
May 30, 1971. She was 81 years
of age.
She was born in Clinton on
May 24, 1890, the daughter of
Jacob and Sarah Sloman. She
was employed for many years as
a secretary and as an assistant in
a children's orphanage. She had
lived in Clinton all her life, and
was a member of St. Paul's
Anglican Church.
Miss Sloman is survived by
one brother, Fred Sloman; two
sisters, Susie Silcoek and Alice
Sloman; and eight nieces and
nephews, Audrey Smith, Werner
Sloman, Mary Silcock, Joan
Reid, Elizabeth Hillman,
Margaret Sloman, William
Sloman and Fredda Hampton.
Funeral services took place
June 1, 1971, with the Rev. J.
Stanley Sharpies of St. Paul's
officiating. Burial was in Clinton
cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Wally
Burton, Harry Thompson, Ed
Nickle, Bob Campbell, Clifford
Stewart and Roy Wheeler.
CHARLES WILLIAM STEWART
Charles William Stewart, 86,
passed away in Clinton Public
Hospital on June 4, after a short
illness.
Born in Mullett Township,
where he attended school, he
was the only son of the late Mr.
and Mrs. William . Stewart. He
ranted in Hullett Township and
was a breeder arid exhibitor of
Clydesdale horses until his
retirement to 13lyth in IBM
He was the husband of the
late Amy Alberta. Woon and the
late Bina Kirk.
Surviving are one daughter,
Mrs. John (Marion) Heaman,
London; two sons, Lloyd,
tluilett Township and Kenneth,
MeXillop Township; seven
grandchildren and two great
grandchildren; and two sisters,
Mrs. John (Edith) \Indent,
Goderich, and Mrs. Fred (Laura)
Toll, Clinton,
He was a member of
Londesboro United Church and
Ontario Street United Church,
Verhoef, Varna; Edda Steegstra,
Clinton; and Tina Postma,
Clinton. The , flowergirl was
Christine Buruma, Sarnia.
The groomsman was Harry
Sjaarda of Wingham, and ushers
were Jerry Buruma, London;
Bob Walters, Kippen; and
Connie Greydanus, Wyoming,
Ontario. Grant Greydanus of
Wyoming was ringbearer.
Mr. and Mrs. Postma will live
in Clinton.
Clinton and served on the Board
of Stewards and as an elder, as
well as a Sunday School
Superintendent for many years.
He also was a member of
Blyth and Clinton Loyal Orange
Lodges and Royal Black Knights
and had served as County
Master.
The body rested at the Ball
Funeral Home in Clinton where
the funeral service was held
Sunday, June 6, conducted by
Rev. Wonfor of Ontario Street
United Church, assisted by a
long time friend of the family,
Rev. Harold Snell of London,
and formerly of Londesboro.
Interment was in Clinton
Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were
Henry Pattison, Asa beeves,
Harold Webster, Benson
Finnigan, Oliver Jacques, and
Lloyd Hern. Pallbearers were
Calvert Falconer, Robert
Wallace, Walter Scott, Frank
Falconer, John Henderson, and
William MeIlwain.
Flowerbearers were Charles
Coultas, George Bernie,
Emmerson Wright, Wayne
Smith, Harry Crich, and Thomas
Deeves.
EDITH MAY PELLEY
Edith May (IVIeFarlane)
Kelley, who passed away May 1,
1970 and who had donated her
body to Medical Science at the
University of Toronto, was
buried June 3, 1971 it' St. James
Cemetery, Toronto.
She is survived by two
daughters and sons-in-laws, Chris
and Harold Stone anti Anne and
Ron Corrigan. Also surviving are
five grandchildren, Harold and
Wayne Stone and Blain, Craig
and Lee Corrigan.
