The president, Mrs. Gourley,
welcomed guests and members,
and thanked all who had helped
at the District Annual.
The minutes anal
correspondence were read. A
card of appreciation from the
Hpwatt family was read, A
donation of $25 was given to the
John Benjamins family, fire
victims.
It was voted to cater for the
steam thresher? re-union in
September in Blyth and to cater
for the Grade 8 graduation, June
29.
Mrs. Gourley is to attend,
with Mrs. Robinson, the
Huronview Auxiliary on June
14,
The Finance Committee is to
report to Council on kitchen
remodelling.
Roll call was answered by
"introducing a guest".
Mrs. Dalton conducted two
contests, one won by Mrs.
McKinnon and the other by Mrs.
Claire Vincent.
Margaret Taylor introduced
the guest speakef, Mrs.
McKinnon, who spoke on her
work visiting homemakers in
Hamilton and all of Wentworth
County. All ages help with the
work — from 20 to 79. One
lady, 80, works three hours a
day six days a week. Mrs.
Fairservice thanked her and
presented a gift. Mrs. McKinnon
is known by Many here, being
the former Madeline Hawkins of
Clinton.
Mrs. Pipe, the curator, gave a
report on the Historical meeting
held in Belgrave. She also had a
book on the history of Bandom,
Concession 9, Hullett Township,
compiled by Mr. Albert
Livermore, This book is available
from Mrs. Pipe.
The meeting ended with a
sing-song led by Mrs. Wood, with
Mrs. Tom Allen at the piano.
Lunch was served by hostesses
Mrs. B. Brundson, Mrs. E.
Josling, Mrs. Tom Allen, Mrs.
Les Reid, and Mrs. Gordon
Radford.
A special Graduation Service
for the Londesboro Explorers
was held on Wednesday, June 9.
The meeting opened with the
Explorer purpose and hymn.

Scripture and Kathy Bunking
led in prayer,
A solo by Barbara Glousher
was followed by a reading by
Kathy Penfound,

which the graduating girls served
lunch.

for x-rays, returning home on

We are sorry to report Mr.
Albert (Pat) Mason has been a
patient in Clinton hospital the
past week, owing to an injury at
work.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Duizer and
children spent Sunday evening
with her grandmother, Mrs.
Frank Bell of Blyth.
Mr. and Mrs, Jack Armstrong
visited in Stratford on Thursday
with their son, Mr. and Mrs. Ken
Armstrong and family, visiting
Billy, in hospital, who had an
appendix operation on Monday
night, and David, • who had
recently returned from hospital
after an accident in which he
was burned.
Next Sunday, June 20,
special services will be held at
Londesboro United Church with
the male voice choir, and Rev.
Ludford of Parry Sound Indian
Reserve will be speaking. In the
evening at a fireside hour, he will
show slides and answer
questions. There will be special
music. Ladies are asked to bring
lunch. This is an evening for the
whole congregation.
Clinton attended the
Johnston-Gobel wedding held in
St. Stephen's Anglican Church in
Stratford on Saturday, followed
by dinner and dancing in the
Legion Hall.
The chicken barbeque was
held on Thursday evening, June
10, at the Forester's Hall. The
weather being ideal, a crowd of
well over 900 were fed.
Mr. and Mrs. Terrence Hunter
of Colborne Township spent
Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. John
Thompson, Betty, Jim, Sharon
and Bob.
Mr. and Mrs, Reybern and
Janice of Goderich were Sunday
visitors at the Whyte home.
Mr. and Mrs. Ken Preszcator,
Dianne and Nancy, Mr. and Mrs.
Jim Preszcator, Billy and
Debbie, attended the King picnic
held in Exeter on Sunday.

The council of the Township
of Stanley, at its regular meeting
on Monday night, June 7, in
Varna, awarded a contract for a
new bridge on lots 10 and 11,
Concession 4, to Facca
Construction Company of
Chatham. Amount of the Facca
tender was $30,988,
Eight tenders were received
for the project, ranging from the
Facca price of $30,988 to a high
of $36,373,
Work on the pew bridge is to
commence very shortly, and
completion date has been set for
October 1.
The Stanley council has been
advised it will receive a subsidy
of $11,750 towards the price of
park property it purchased on
sideroad 10, in the Township.
The grant represents one-half of
the original cost. In the next
year or two, the council hopes
to develop the property into a
public park for its ratepayers.
In other business, council
approved a grant of $75 to the
Bayfield Agricultural Society for
their annual Fall Fair, and also
approved membership in the
Huron County Road
Superintendent's Association,
The membership fee of $15 was
ordered paid.
Council passed by-laws for
four drains, in the amount of
$6,300 and also approved one
