Some 110 members of the ?ather Stephen Eckert Council, Knights of Columbus, of 3eaforth and district and their wives, attended the annual 3orporate Communion and makfast at St. James' Church m. Sunday. Preceding Mass at 12:15, 21 nembers of the Dean Egan kssembly, Fourth Degree nembers, as a guard of 'honor, marched from St. James' Separate School, accompanied y the members of the Seaforth ouncil, to the Church to assist t Mass and receive Holy ornmunion. Rev. H. J. Laragh, Council 'haplain and pastor of St. ames' as celebrant of the Mass, xtended a welcome to the isitors and gave the homily, He as assisted at Holy Communion y Rev. E. J. Mohan, who also ed in the singing of hymns, Following the services, embers, wives and guests djourned to the Seaforth Community Centre for Audrey Marie Denomme graduated from St. Marys School of Nursing, Kitchener, May 6. Audrey is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Denomme, 107 Wellington St., Goderich. breakfast, which was served by the St. James' Catholic Women's League. Grand Knight, Leo Hagan, was chairman, and after extending a welcome to members and guests, introduced the headtable, which included: Charles Rau, Faithful Navigator of the Fourth Degree and Mrs. Rau; Joseph Tobin, District Deputy of District 31 and Mrs. Tobin; Larry Lemencheck, Grand Knight, Kilroy Council, Stratford and Mrs, Lemencheck; Ferg Kelly, Jr., Catholic Activity Chairman and Mrs. Kelly and Rev. H. J. Laragh, Council Chaplain, who introduced the guest speaker, Rev. J. L. O'Rourke, former pastor of. St. Joseph's Church, Stratford. Father O'Rourke's address was very informative, speaking on the duties and work of the "Parish Council" in the church today and the future. He was thanked by Frank Reynolds, expressing appreciation to Father O'Rourke on behalf of those present for his timely topic on some of the changes taking place in the church today. District Deputy Joseph Tobin brought greetings from the Ontario State Board and congratulated the Council on the success of today's activity. Frank Furlong, past District Deputy from Galt and Mrs. Furlong were introduced by the Grand Knight and the assistance of Cecil Tufts, Captain of the honor guard and Mrs. Tufts was recognized by the members. The St. James' C.W.L. were thanked by the Grand Knight for catering and their co-operation and was followed by Ferg Kelly, Jr,, Catholic Activity Chairman, who made a presentation of a token of appreciation to Father O'Rourke, the guest speaker. John Robert Powell, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Powell, RR 1, Auburn, received his Bachelor of Applied Science in mechanical engineering on Saturday, May 29, at the University of Waterloo, Mr. and Mrs. Powell, and his sister, Mrs. Glenn Montgomery, attended the graduation. John A. Hudie who recently graduated from Fanshawe College as an Electronic Technician, is the son of Mr. and Mrs, Alfred P. Hudie of Rattenbury St. He expects to be employed with The International Nickle Co, of Canada at Sudbury. Kenneth Whitmore, son of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Whitmore, FIR 4, Seaforth, has received a Bachelor of Arts degree in zoology at the University of Western Ontario. The Clintonian Club met Thursday afternoon, June 3, at the home of Mrs. Elmer Frey. The President, Mrs. F. Cummings, opened the meeting with a poem, folloWed by the Creed and the Lord's Prayer in unison. The minutes of the , last meeting were accepted as read, The Secretary also read two thank-you notes for flowers received the past month. The Treasurer, Mrs. Vi Lampman, gave an excellent financial report. Several flowers and cards had been sent out the past month, as reported by Mrs. G. Glazier. There had been 47 hospital and 25 home visits made to sick and shut-ins. Roll call was answered by telling where you would like to visit for your holidays. There were 15 members and four visitors present, One visitor was welcomed as a new member. The club is holding a picnic in Clinton Community Park on Monday afternoon, June 28. Special committees were appointed to look after sports and prizes for the picnic, A reading was given by Mrs. T. ,Leppington. The winners of the Dutch Auction were Mrs. E. Kendall and Mrs. T. Leppington. The mystery prize went to Mrs. E. Finley, The President closed the meeting with the Mizpah Benediction. Lunch was then served, Ten games of bingo were enjoyed by those present. The July meeting is to take place at the picnic on June 28.
