HomeMy WebLinkAboutClinton News-Record, 1971-06-10, Page 6Mrs. Jack Van Egmond, President of the women's division of
the Spring Fair, presented the silver tray to Mrs. Eldon Yeo,
who compiled most points in the competitions.
Mrs. Jack Van. Egmond presented an award to Carl Toop, who
had the most points of any exhibitor in the junior
homemaking division of the Clinton Spring Fair on Saturday.
It was the first year the category had been introduced and
drew 72 exhibits from 23 exhibitors.
The winners in the livestock judging events parade before the grandstand Saturday afternoon. Most
classes showed a high number of entries this year.
How do you judge a chicken? This judge walked around looking at the rooster from different
angles, felt him, prodded him, and came up with a decision. Good job it isn't so hard a job for the
hen.
Frances Haliday (left) accepts the award for the best heavy horse at the show from Ken Flett,
manager of the Clinton branch of the Bank of Montreal, which donated the trophy. The stable of
Charles Haliday of Chesley was a big winner in the heavy horse section of the show.
