being made for a new church on the same site to open by the end of the year. Slowly the burned
out walls of the old church are being torn down and the refuse removed.

meeting 6, and the names of the
material samples we were given.
Since this was our last •
meeting, we are going to have a
practice for the skit we are doing
for Achievement Day, It was to
be held at Mrs. Baird's, May 10.

Mother's Day service
impressive

A large audience filled the
United Church Sunday morning,
when a very impressive Mother's
Day service Was held.
The congregation was
welcomed by Henry flunking
and Bert Shobbrook, both
Members of Session,
Music was supplied by Mrs,
Torn Allen at the piano and Mrs,
Harry Lear at the organ, with
both the Senior Choir and the
Junior Girl's Choir.
Two children were presented
for baptism: Frederick Robert,
son of Robert and Mary Peel,
and Jeffrey Wayne Vincent, son
of Douglas and Joyce ,Vincent.
This was a Family service
conducted by Mr. and Mrs.
Gordon Shobbrook, Darrell,
Trent and Diana. Gordon led the
call to worship, the unison
reading, and prayer. Darrell read
the Scripture, Trent led in
unison singing of the hymn, "0
Happy Home", Darlene led in
response reading, and Diana gave
a short poem; Rev. MacDonald
gave the children's story and
children's hymn, "When Mothers
of Salem".
The offering was received by
the ushers, Lyle Adams, Gerald
Riley, Larry Lovett, Morley
Shepherd and Michael Penfound.
The flowers in the church
were in memory of Mr. and Mrs,
Wm, Bell by the family, and two
baskets in memory of the Maines
family.
Rev. MacDonald's message
was "Home and Haven".
The service closed with
prayer and "Happy the Home
Where Thou Art Loved",

in charge, assisted by members
of the Sunday School and Choir.
The Sacrament of the Lord's
Supper will be administered in
the United Church next Sunday
morning,
Mr, Perce Johnston is, at
present, a patient in Exeter
Public Hospital,
Mrs. John Ostrom is a patient
in Victoria Hospital, London,
The United Cluireh Women
held their May meeting on
Thursday evening, with Group
Three in charge of Devotions,
Mrs. Ronald Taylor leading,
A poem was given entitled "A
Break In The Clouds".
A skit, "Our Changing World
And How To Cope With It", was
given by Mrs. William Dawson
and Mrs. Charles Reid.
The offering was taken up by
Mts. Ron Taylor and dedicated
by Mrs. Dawson.
The roll call was answered by
a donation to the Clinton
Hospital Auxiliary by the 25
members present.
Plans were made to entertain
other U.C.W.'s, in the near
future.
Forty-two calls were made to
sick and shut-ins during the past
month.
An invitation from Clinton
United Church Women to attend
a U.C.W. Thankoffering service
on May IA was received and
accepted.
The meeting was closed by
the President, Mrs. Wm, Dawson.
A plant sale was held with
Mrs. 1/2nald Taylor as
auctioneer and a good suit was
realised from the sale.
Group Two served lunch.
