In other business, council approved the budget as presented by John Berry, clerk-treasurer; and authorized a maximum of $250 or 50 percent of the costs for indigent, funerals, whichever is the lesser amount, as a refund to the local municipality, the balance of the funeral expense to be the responsibility of the local municipality less the provincial grant received in this connection. There will be a Bottle Drive on May 15 in the morning. This was discussed and six girls were asked to help with this, We hope everyone in Clinton will co-operate in this drive and box their saleable bottles and have them out for pick-up by the girls. Proceeds from this drive will go to help Camp Klohanie. We closed the meeting with the Brownie Prayer and Taps. Please remember the bake sale on May 22. Further details in next week's paper. Guides meet On May 3 the 2nd Clinton Guide Company mot at the Wesley-Willis Church for a meeting, We had a patrol discussion and also we had horseshoe formation. The discussion was about the Catnp.Out and Pop Bottle Drive that is coming up. Following this came the Scavenger Hunt in which the Bluebird Patrol tame first, While the Oriole Patrol followed in second place, Mrs. DelVe then allowed us to proceed on to the cookie depots for Cookie Day, May 8, after which we had our skit and songs. Village council finalized its 1971 budget Monday night and attributed the tax cut to the upgraded assessment which became effective Jan. 1, 1970, • Council set the rate at 85 mills residential and 96 commercial for public school supporters during 1971 — and 83.44 and 94,44 mills respectively for residential and commercial for separate school supporters. The rate for both public and separate school supporters during 1970, said clerk Earl Campbell, was 88 and 100 mills.
