After everyone was satisfied and bulging with food, Mr. Black presented a cheque, on behalf of the Legion, to help meet our allocation from Clinton to Camp Klahanie, Mrs. Marnie Walden, Camp Representative, accepted the cheque for the girls and explained about the amount of money we must raise. Every district was alloted an amount to be raised, based on last year's census, ours is $2,300. Each district is having special projects to try to raise the money required and the Clinton Legion, who sponsors our girls, has pledged to help us. The sooner we reach this amount, the sooner the Pack Holiday House can be erected for our girls to enjoy. Brownies cannot sleep overnight unless under a roof and off the ground. Projects are being planned now. One definite one is a Bottle Drive on Saturday, May 15. Please gather all your refundable pop bottles and have them out for pick-up. Mrs. Norma Ball presented a "thank you — farewell" gift to Mrs. Betty Toop who will soon be leaving Clinton, It was a small token to a person who has tirelessly helped everyone in the Guiding movement in Clinton, Norma summed up all our feelings by saying, "Their gain is our loss," We are also very sorry to be losing Mrs, Norma Ball who has also been a wonderful help to everyone, The 1st Brownie Pack entertained with a singing game, "Seven Capers", and sang a round called "My Paddle", This was followed by a badge presentation. The 4th Brownie Pack had a short skit about Brownie work, with teitable rhymes and actions and a song, "We're The 4th Clinton Brownies", plus a summary of the year in the pack, with a display of their work and some of the items that are used at their meetings. The 1st Guide Company had a display of natural objects, map work and rope tying and their programme centered around this theme, with some of the girls giving an explanation of their work. The 2nd Guide Company gave a hilarious rendition of "An Old Austrian" with suitable get-ups on the main characters, This was followed by badge presentations, including a special presentation by Mrs. Hazel MeCreath„ our Division Commissioner, Goderich, of a Junior Religion and Life Emblem to Mary Cantelon of the 2nd Guide Company. Mrs. McCreath talked about' the emblem, how much work is involved in trying for it and of its benefits to a girl. Mary is the only girl in Clinton to hold the emblem; she was very surprised and pleased by the honour of having Mrs. McCreath present it to her. She also received five other badges. Next the Rangers presented an investment of two girls into Rangers. They were Debbie Johnston and Cheryl Kennedy. This was most interesting and we're sure it will encourage Guides to go on to the Ranger programme. Mrs. McCreath invested these girls and also presented a seven year service star to Miss Kitty Kellins. Also on display was a wonderful scrap-book of the area, loaned to us for the occasion. The evening ended with Brownie Taps and Guide Taps led by three Rangers playing guitars. Thank you's go to all the girls, mothers, leaders arid Mrs. Floweit for an outstanding evening.
