Londesboro ,Cheerio Club donates to BY MRS, BERT SlriciBBROOK The Cheerio Club held their meeting on Tuesday April 20 at • the home of Emma Livingstone with 11, members present. The draw was won by Ida Townsend. It was voted to donate $10 to the Blyth Lions Club Easter seal fund. Next meeting is to be in charge of Group 4. The program was a recitation of "Daffodils" and a reading "How to win and Keep friends" by Myrtle Fairservice. A contest of jtimbled shrub and flower names was conducted by Jewel Cowan and another contest `snow' by Ida Durnin. The rest of the afternoon was spent playing euchre. Lunch was served by hostesses, Emma Livingstone, Ida Durnin, Lillie Webster and Jessie Jones. An audience which filled the hall were present to enjoy the variety concert sponsored by Londesboro Young People's Group on Friday night, which was a decided success with solos, both vocal and instrumental, step dancing, skits, readings and the • male voice choir. Rev. MacDonald and the young people are to be complimented on the success of the evening. Rev. MacDonald acted as chairman and thanked everyone who helped in any way. Mr. Charles Weymouth Sr. an esteemed older resident of the community passed away in Clinton Hospital on Sunday morning in his 94th year. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Shobbrook spent Saturday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Bob Gibbins RR 1, Clinton. Please remember the change of date for Women's Institute from first Thursday to second Wednesday evening of each month. We are sorry Mrs. Emmerson Hesk is a patient in Clinton Hospital having been home for one month. We wish her a speedy recovery. Easter Seals Mrs, Hugh Sinclair and son Bradley, London and Mm, Donna Doerr, Bolicol, Quebec, visited with Mrs. Harold Livingstone on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Andrews, Greg, Brenda and Nancy of Toronto spent weekend with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Woods, also visited his father Mr. Frank Andrews in Clinton Hospital. Mr. Wm. Govier and Mrs. Lillie Webster are spending this week with Mr. Goviers' daughter and family Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Hann of Waterloo. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Hunking and family spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs, Doug Johnson (Phyllis Manning) of Windsor. Mrs, Ron 'Herby, Vicki, Joan, Dora, Lynn and Mrs. Bert Shobbrook spent Wednesday with the Milisons of Woodstock. Attending the dessert euchre sponsored by Walton W.I. on Wednesday night were Mrs. G. Gourley, Mrs. M.Robinson, Mrs. J. Jones, Mrs. M. Fairservice. The Londesboro U.C.W. catered to teachers federation on Monday night with 25 present. The Aiinwell unit of the U.C.W. held their meeting April 19 at the home of Helen Lee. The president Ruth Vincent opened the meeting with an Easter Meditation. Hymn 354 was sung. Gail Lear read the scripture. The president gave an Easter reading and led in prayer. The story of Hymn 383 was given followed by singing of the hymn. Karen Middigal played two accordian selections. Betty Millar and Helen Lee were in charge or program. Rev. MacDonald led a Bible Study on the Book of JOhn. The roll call was answered by 16 members and five visitors. A report was given on the ham supper to be held May 19. The next meeting will be a work meeting at the church on May 18. Rev. MacDonald closed the meeting with prayer. Golding Base Commander CFB Clinton Adastral Park on retirement from Canadian Armed Forces. nrakismiL, Canadian Forces men retire CPL Neil McAuley will be retiring from the Canadian Forces on July 30 at CFB Clinton Adastral Park, Ontario. After attending Bech Collegiate, Neil enlisted at London Recruiting Unit in April 1954 and was selected for electronic training in the Communication Technician Ground career field. After basic and advanced training at CFRCS Clinton he was posted to various units returning to CFB Clinton in September 1966 as an instructor in Advanced Training, CPL McAuley, his wife Joan Carol and daughters Krista Ann and Katrina Lynn live at Adastral Park. After attending Althouse College, he expects to reside in the London Area. Canadian Forces Base Clinton, Ontario, announces the retirement of M/CPL C. Hawgood. CPL Hawgood enlisted in the RCAF in 1942 as a Wireless Operator and was released at the end of World War II, After a mrbite-"at 'ttiVilt-fff 1if1 Chlries re-enlisted in 1954 as a Teletype Operator and after postings to St. Jean P.Q., Clinton, Trenton, Ontario, 2 Flight Wing Grastenquin France, Halifax N.S., Washington D.C. he returned to Clinton in 1967.
