April 14 for their Easter
meeting. Mrs. Alvin Cole
presided for the,, meeting. Mrs.
Percy Wright gave the worship.
Mrs. Ross read a poem "Easter
Thoughts" for the program.
Mrs. C. Coleman gave 'the
study on Politics, Development
and Change. Mrs. Currie lead
the group with a new song
from Alma College, "0 Lord,
all the . World belongs to you7.
At this time Mrs. Currie was
honored with a surprise gift
prior to her leaving in June,
The ladies were asked to cater
to a wedding in June. An
invitation to attend a Blossom
Tea at Centralia United Church
on May 12 was received. Mrs.
Cole closed the meeting with
prayer. Mrs. R. Taylor and Mrs.
E. Dick were hostess.

The regular meeting of the
A.C.W. of St. Pauls Anglican
Church was held April 15 at
the home of Miss Florence
Petty.-
The President Mrs. Scrabuik
opened the meeting with the
members Prayer. Minutes of
previous meeting were read.
Roll call was answered by
naming musical instruments
found in the Bible.
The members were reminded
of the A.C.W. Annual meeting
to be held in London on April
29. Mrs. Scrabuik reported the
purchase of an Electric range,
Conveners were appointed
for the Smorgasbord to be held
on May 8. Mrs. Andersen took
the topic "Being Sent". Mrs.
Scrabuik read devotions from
Living Message. Mrs. Andersen
closed the meeting with prayer.
50TH ANNIVERSARY
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph
Ferguson, Hensall, celebrated
their 50th wedding anniversary
Sunday, April 18 in Hensall
with dinner at Hensall Hotel.
Their wedding took place at
the home of the bride's parents,
the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Parsons on the South Boundary
of Stanley Township on April
19, 1921. After their marriage
the couple settled on the
groom's farm, Concession 4,
Usborne Township where they
farmed until they retired in
Henson 12 years' ago.
The couple have three sons
Russell. and Lloyd of Usborne
Township; Howard,
Thamesford; one daughter Mrs.
Grant (Velma) gowanlock of
Lambeth; and 12 grandchildren.
Rev. Donald Beek of
Bayfield has been named
Minister of the Hensall and
Chiselhurst United Churches,
the two congregations were told
Sunday.
He replaces Rev. Harold
Currie who will become
minister at Sebringville United
Church July 1, Married with
five children Mr. Beck has
served at Bayfield United for
five years.
The induction service into his
new charge at Hensell will be
announced in the future.
Hensall Women's Institute
met in the Legion Hall
Wednesday, April 14, for their
annual meeting. President Mrs.
James .McAllister presided and
introduced District President
Mrs. Delbert Geiger, of Zurich,
who brought greetings from the
District, read a poem "The Ten
Commandments for Institute
members" and also conducted
the installation of officers. Mrs.
Elizabeth Riley reported for the
sick and shut-ins. Mrs. Walker
Carlile and Mrs. Jack Corbett
were appointed a committee fof
this project for next month.
Mrs. Grace Peck reported for
Huronview Auxiliary and
announced a blossom tea at
Huronview May 12. Any
member wishing to go contact
Mrs. Peck, also donations of
cups and saucers will be
appreciated.
A motion was passed to join
the Retarded Association. It was
announced that the District
Annual will be held May 20 in
Hensel' United Church. Mrs. R.
Elgie and Mrs. T. Sherritt to
convene the dinner.
Miss Amy Lammie chaired the
program, highlight of which was
a discussion on hobbies. Taking
part were Mrs. John Sken, Mrs.
J. Corbett, Miss Lammie and
Mrs. R. Simpson. Mrs. W. Dilling
gave curtesy remarks. Program
convener was Miss Larnmie,

The Hensall Ladies Curling
Club ended the curling season
with a delicious dinner at the
Pine Ridge Chalet.
Helen Scane presided as
president; Lucille Beer was busy;
and thanked the outgoing
president and secretary-treasurer
for their year's work. Joyce
Pepper acting as secretary-
treasurer gave the financial
report.
Very lovely maple leaf sterling
silver pins were presented to the
first and second place team.
Placing first was the Scane
rink skipped by Helen Scane.
Other members were Marg
Consitt, Fran Mickle and Shirley
Ferguson. Placing second was
the Ingram rink skipped by
Pauline Ingram. Other members
were Vera Drysdale, Marietta
Bilke and Jennie Kipfer.
Marg Consitt was elected to
serve as President for the
1971-72 season and Fran Mickle
was elected as secretary-
treasurer. It was felt by the
ladies it had been a very
successful curling season.
County medical
secretaries meet
The April meeting of The
Huron County Medical
Secretaries Association was held
in The Cafeteria of The Clinton
Hospital with a 'very good
attendance, The minutes were
read and the treasurer's report
was given. The Membership fees
for 1971 were collected.
Mrs, Pauline McMichael
introduced Mrs. Andrew Mowatt
who demonstrated the art of
making candles which was
enjoyed by all, A delicious lunch
was served by the Clinton girls.
A letter of thanks has been
sent to Mr. Englestat for the use
of the Hospital. The next
meeting to be held at The
Goderich psychiatric Hospital.

Recommendations that
Clinton Public Hospital be
turned into a nursing home was
unanimously rejected last week
by the planning council of the
Huron County Hospitals.
The recommendations were
made in a role study of
hospitals in the county by the
Toronto firm of Agnew-
Peckham and Associates.
J. W. Counter,- chairman of
the board of the hospital said
he and his associates went to
the meeting unsure of what
reaction the report would
receive from the other hospitals
in the county but he was most
pleased when all the county
hospitals stood with Clinton in
its opposition to the
recommendation.
Mr. Counter pointed out at
the meeting that the new
county plan shows the
possibility of Clinton doubling
in population in the 1970's and
early 1980's. He pointed out
that it would be foolish to
judge the future of the hospital
on the basis of the present state
of affairs in Clinton with the
closure of CFB Clinton.
He pointed out later that
Clinton was at the centre of the
county and closure of the
