Wammes of RR 1, Clinton and Petronella 0, deJeu, Lambeth on April 3, 1971, The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Johan deJeu and the late Johan deJeu of Lambeth and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John 'Wammes, RR 1, Clinton. Given in marriage by her brother Ernie, the bride wore a full-length, white, empire-waisted gown with lace trim around the neck and waist and elbow-length sleeves trimmed with lace and fur. The train, falling from her shoulders, was trimmed with fur. She carried a cascade of pink roses and freesia. Maid of honour was Mrs. Colomba Synders of RR 3, Lambeth, sister of the bride and UCW Mrs. Norman Trewartha presided at Ontario St. U.C.W. General Meeting in the Ladies Parlour on April 14. Mrs. Frank McGregor and Mrs, George Potter of Unit 1 conducted the Worship, taking as their theme "Planting and Reaping". During the business sessions the ladies were asked to remember the musical evening on Wednesday, April 28. The Treble Singers of Goderich, Miss Carolyn Hibbert, pianist from London, and Mr. James Doherty, Irish Tenor, will present a concert in the church. Unit 1 are having a coffee party on Thursday, May 13. Dr. Jean and Dr. Catherine Whittier, retired missionaries, will give an illustrated talk at the joint Thankoffering on May 16. The Salvation Army Band of Ooderielt. and .Winghatn. presented a religious prograM on Easter Sunday Afternoon, in the auditorium with Captain McCune leading the devotions. The residents Easter program Was held on Wednesday afternoon with a good attendance of residents and several visitors. The program 'under the direction of Mrs. '"Wild and Mrs, Byisma included an Easter parade of thirty residents in decorated wheel chairs wearing Easter bonnets. The Huronview orchestra supplied the music for the parade And dancing with tea and cookies served by the ladies, The St, Mary's Separate school ,ef. Goderich provided their spring program, "All About People", on Thursday family night, The program was under the direction of the Principal, Mr. , Joe Morrissey; Director of music, Mrs. W, Robinson; Accompanist, Mr, Ed Stiles with the entire teaching staff and 200 students having some part in the concert, The residents enjoyed the fine singing, acting, and stage management of the group, District .8 horticultural society meets Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Bilyea, Lori and Kathy of St. Marys were Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Nick Whyte, David, Bryan and Crystal. Lynn and Steven Mcllwain visited over the weekend with their grandparents Mr. and Mrs. George Mcllwain and family. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Van Bommet of London visited on Sunday with Mr, and Mrs, Marris Bos, Steven and Sharon. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Houghton of Holinesville were Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Storey. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Buchanan spent Sunday evening with his mother Mrs. Alfred Buchanan in Clinton Public Hospital, Mr. and Mrs. William Wammes of Bothwell spent Sunday with Mr, and Mrs. John Wammes, John and Mary. Mr. and Mrs. George Lynn and Steven of Stratford and Mrs, George E. Mcllwain visited on Sunday With Mr. Walter Kingsweil of Ituronview. Sunday visitors with Mrs. W. L. Whyte, Tom, Bill and Margie and Mr. Harold Whyte were Mrs. Vera Sebben of Stratford and Mrs. Mantle Perrin of London. Mr. and Mrs. Elmore Stephenson of Egmondville were Monday visitors with Mrs. Luther Sanders. Margie and Bill Whyte of Guelph are home till September after completing their courses at the University. At the time of writing Mrs. Ed. Dorrance is a patient in Seaforth Community Hospital. We would like to wish her every success with her operation and hope she will soon be feeling well again. Mr. and Mrs, Wes Agar of Point Edward spent Friday with Mr. and Mrs. Carman Sorrow, John and Doug. Mr. Jim Scarrow is visiting with relatives in Florida. The program will be held on Tuesday, JUNE 1, at Centralia College of Agricultural Technology, Huron Park. Dairy Day it a project of the Western Ontario Dairy Committee - an organization of representatives from nine Western Ontario county milk committees, the Ontario Milk Commission and the Ontario Department Of Agriculture and Food. Dairying is an important farm operation in the area served by the Dairy Committee. Almost 30 per cent of the province's dairy cows are found it the nine counties of Bruce, Huron, Perth, Lambton, Middlesex, Oxford, Essex, Kent and Elgin. Over 400 dairy farmers attended the 1970 program. The money making project, one cent for every meal during lent amounted to $18, Mrs, Broadfoot announced that Brucefield Easter Thankoffering will be held at Kippen Church on April 25, and the May general meeting will be held in the 1.0.0.F. Hall on May 4. Also a rummage and bake sale will be held in Clinton, May 15. Donations may be left at the home of Mrs, Berry any time. The Tu ckersmith May meeting to be held at the home of Mrs. Ross Chapman in the evening. The meeting closed with , prayer. Refreshments were served by the hostess and her committee. The Annual Meeting of District 8, Ontario Horticultural Society was held in Bruce Peninsula District High. School Auditorium in Lions Head, on April 17 when 130 registered. Six members of Clinton Branch and six members of Junior Gardeners attended. Dinner was served by Ladies Guild of Christ Church in their Church Hall. After a welcome by Reeve Bradley Davis the district director Mrs. Klie gave a.short address. Roll call of branches was called and a resume of society reports was given by Mrs. R. Bray. Mr. J. P. Johnstone from Eastnor Society showed films on the Bruce Trail, which, in reality is the Duke of Edinburgh Hike: from Tobermory to Owen Sound. Another trail was organized from Tobermory to Niagara. Groomsman was Mr. John Wammes of RR 1, Clinton and usher was John deJeu of St. Thomas. Organist was Mrs. McLeod of Mt, Brydges, The bridal attendants wore floor-length gowns of pink brocade with A-line skirt and long sleeves. They carried a cascade of pink carnations, iris and daisies. The flowergirl carried a basket of the same flowers. After the ceremony, a reception and dance were held in the church basement. For the wedding trip the bride wore a blue crimp-knit suit with black accessories and an orchid. The couple will reside on James St. Clinton. meets A bale will be packed on May 26. Mrs, Jim Mair introduced the film "Background to Latin America", This film pointed out the contrast of modern cities and squared slums in Latin America. The faces of the poor showed disillusion and despair. Above all, the people want education. Massive foreign aid is needed to meet their needs. At the close of the film Mrs. G. Wright moved a vote of thanks to Mr. John Bernasconi, projectionist. Following the meeting, lunch was served by the Afternoon Unit.
