art-work that decorated the gym for the belated open house last week at the school. The open
house had been planned for the previous week which had been designated as Education Week but
bad weather spoiled the plans.

The auditorium of Huronview
was filled to capacity on
Monday afternoon for the
progiam, Salute to Spring
presented by the Junior students
of Huron Centennial School. A
fine program of songs by the
choir acted by students in
various costumes of butterflies,
ducks, rabbits, bears etc. with
200 children taking part was
rated by the residents as
wonderful. Much credit is due to
the principal, teachers and
students for the performance.
The residents who are Irish
and those who wished they were
gathered in the auditorium on
Wednesday afternoon for a St.
Patricks social. Afternoon
activities began with a half hour
of dancing with Irish jigs by
Barbara Miller, Ileene McEwan,
Irvine Johnston, readings by
Mrs. Buchanan, Mrs. Leybourne,
Mr. Leishman, solos by Morgan

Thursday was arranged by Mrs.
David Raltson of Goderich with
Mr. Ross Nichols as chairman
and song leader. Those taking
part in the vocal and
instrumental numbers were Mrs.
Ron Curl, Cindy Cornish, Sandra
Searls, Scot Possan, Douglas and
Lyle Nichols.
Brucefield
Mr. Garb Snelling of Toronto
and Mrs. Norman Snelling of
Etobicoke spent two weeks with
their sister-in-law, Mrs. Charles
Snelling.
At 8:35 p.m. Monday, March
22, first Vice President Harry
Crich opened the regular
meeting of Branch 140.
President Harold Black was
unable to attend owing to
illness.
The attendance draw prize
was won by Hec Kingswell and
was donated by Vice President
The Legion has been asked to
assist various organizations on
their charitable canvassing this
year. Volunteers from the
Branch will assist the Salvation
Army on May 6, and the Cancer
Society the first week in April.
Any member wishing to assist
will be welcome and contact can
be made through our secretary
Gord Dalgleish.
The camp and sport show
which has been held the past few
years at CFB Clinton and
sponsored by the "Trail
Spinners" camping club of CFB
is this year being sponsored by
Branch 140. The date is April 17
and 18 and the time from 12
noon till 10 p.m. on the
Saturday and from 12 noon till
5 p.m. on the Sunday. A good
show is expected and as an
added attraction a camper trailer
is being offered as a prize. This
draw will be held at 3:30 p.m.
Sunday and door prizes donated
by the exhibitors will be drawn
about 4:30 p.m. Everyone is
welcome.
At our last VE Banquet we
had Baron Burkard von
Muellenheim—Rech berg,
German consul to Canada as our
guest speaker. lie had been
Gunnery Officer on that famous
German battleship Bismark and
was taken prisoner when she was
sunk. He served three years as
POW at Bowmanville and after
returning to Germany at the end
of the war he was sent back to
Canada as consul. Recently his
term of office expired and in
one of his last comments to the
Toronto Daily Star he
mentioned how he enjoyed his
visit to Clinton. He phoned Cam
Proctor the day before he sailed
to thank him again tor the
invitation to Clinton. Some say
it is impossible to forget?
The monthly draw prizes were

The first three meetings of the
Hensall 4-H Club Separates for
Summer were held at the home
of Mrs. Wm. Fuss. The girls
decided to call themselves the
"Super Sewers" with nine
members on the roll call.
Mrs. Ted Oud is the assistant
leader and president is Alma
Dud. Secretary Donna Johnston;
treasurer, Willy Blom; press
reporter, Cathy Fuss. At the
next meeting we will have our
outfits ready for basting and
fitting.
Mr. Sim Roobol is a patient in
South Huron Hospital, Exeter.
Mr. Jolm Soldan who has
been a patient in St. Josephs
Hospital, London, where he
underwent surgery, returned
home this week.
