Mrs. Shirley Weary was
chosen as the delegate to
represent the Huron Riding at
the Convention.
It was announced that the
Bluewater Area Council of tire
NDP would hold a `Tribute to
Tommy' dinner in Walkerton
followed by a meeting in
Hanover on Saturday, .Marcy 6.
Guest speaker would be
retiring Federal NDP leader T. C.
Douglas.
UCW evening unit holds supper
much enjoyed,
Mary Trick read a story about
Indians and Margaret Crich led
in prayer. A hymn was sung to
close the devotions. Valena
Trewartha gave a report on the
regional meeting held in Mitchell
recently. Twenty-eight hospital
calls and three home calls were
reported. The U.C,W. executive
meeting will be held March 10.
Flowers for the church for
March are in charge of the unit.
The Mizpah Benediction was
repeated by all.
The February meeting of the
Ontario St. Evening Unit,
U,C.W. took the form of a pot
luck supper.
Valena Trewartha acted as
leader for the business meeting
which followed, in the absence
of Edith Wright. A poem was
read and Mary Trick and her
group led the devotions.
Scripture reading was given by
Hazel Matheson. Clara Dale read
a thank you note from Angola.

On Tuesday, March 2, Joseph
Moro, RR 5, Seaforth was
injured while operating a snow
vehicle.
On Thursday, March 4, on
No, 4 Highway south of Clinton,
James Albert Leonard, 80
Goldwick Crescent, London and
William Kenwell, 233 Eldon
Street, Goderich were involved
in a two car collision resulting in
damage to the vehicles. Leonard
and Kenvveli both received
injuries.
There were three more
accidents on that day as well.
On No. 4 Highway north of
Clinton, Gerald McCaffrey,
Markdale was involved in a single
truck collision resulting in
damage to his vehicle.
On No, 4 Highway north of
Clinton, David. John Larrnour,
227 Grove Street, Simcoe was
involved in a single truck
collision resulting in damage to
the vehicle he was driving.
On No, 8 Highway at No. $1
County Road, Edith Dorothy
RR 6 Goderich and Peter
Francis Dewys, RR 1, Varna
were involved in a car-truck
collision resulting in damage to
the vehicles.
On Friday, March 5, on 6 and
7th Concession, McKillop
Township east of No. 12 County
Road, Daniel Francis Murray,
RR 4, Walton and Rebecca Sue
Oliver, 410 Elmshaven Drive,
Lansing, Michigan were involved
in a car-snow vehicle collision
resulting in damage to the
vehicles.
On Saturday, March 6 on No.
21. Highway north of Griffins
Creek Bridge, Ronald Grant
Turley, 948 King Street, Sarnia
was involved in a single car
collision resulting in damage to
his vehicle.
Dr. Charles BigelOw,
Provincial NDP candidate in the
London North Riding addressed
a meeting of the Huron. New
Democratic Party at Saitford
Valley Hall on Mardi 3,
His subject was 'Organizing a
Successful Election Campaign' -
one on which he was able to
speak with authority. He has
shared in three recent
campaigns, two of them
successful and the third a near
win. The wins were those of
Kenneth Bolton, successful NDP
candidate in a provincial
by-election in Middlesex South
and of Jane Bigelow, his wife.
Jane, a vice-president of the
Ontario New Democratic Party,
was elected to the London
Board of Control on her first
try.
' Charlie is convinced that as
organizer of Alec Richmond's
campaign in the last Federal
election in Middlesex East, he
could have won that one too if
he had 'gone out on a limb' and
spent about $2,000 more than
his budget. "Don't worry too
much, if you end up with some
debt," he said. "It keeps your
organization alive to have to get
out of the red, and the NDP is
noted for paying its bills."
