If you can't go through,. go over. Mitchell's Dave Murtha found one way of beating the tough

Bert's Corner
with Bert Clifford
Many thanks to Mrs. Rick Cameron and Mr. Robin
Thompson for helping Bryan Marriage and myself in
transporting the Bantam team over to Dearborn this past
weekend. Our boys had a terrific weekend and and visited the
• Olympia,on -Saturday night. The great Gordie Howe, who
assisted on three goals and scored the tieing goal in the third,
put on a great display of talent and Roger Crozier, while
letting in six goals, kicked out another 53 shots and his
standup goal tending made the game the thriller it was.
The boys had to be up at 5:30 on Saturday morning to
travel 10 miles away to play their game with Dearborn. Randy
Millar netted three, Greg Butler two, and Rick Cameron and
Jamie Thompson scored in an easy 7-0 win. Costs for the
indoor rink time was $40 per hour and their rinks go 24 hours
a day, seven days a week. An outdoor game at 11 o'clock had
to be cancelled due to the rain,

Speaking of Bantams, don't forget the Bantam tournament
this weekend and 'next. Our local boys meet Hanover Friday
night at 6 o'clock. If anyone has room to billet boys over
night, please let Doug Andrews or myself know.

Murray Taylor and Wally Gardner came to my rescue this
weekend at the Adastral Park Mite tournament. On a last
minute notice, Murray Taylor rounded up two teams to
represent Clinton at the Wee Wee tournament. While the little
fellows, six and seven year olds, were defeated 11-1, the other
team, mainly eight year olds won their first games in the past
two years.
Chairman Gord Gerow from C.P.B. tells me that the tension
in the overtime period was almost too much for some of our
excited parents. The boys worked hard for their two wins and
are to be congratulated for a job well done.
Kinsmen House League time have been changed for the
next two weekends. Pee Wee Thursday, February 25, Rangers

Peewees win 3-1
in minor hockey action
Clinton earned two wins and a
tie in a tripleheader play in town
last Thursday evening.
Neil Colquhoun with two and
David Counter gave the Ponies a
3 to 1 decision over Mitchell.
The win moved the Pee Wees
into a tie for fifth place and only
one point behind fourth place
Zurich in Zone 1 competition.
The top four clubs of the
zone compete in the "A" Series
of the zone playoffs and the
bottom four meet for the "B"
Cameron nets
5 in 6-5 win
Rick Cameron was rejoined in
the Seaforth game with Donnie
MacDonald and Randy Millar
and the threesome were too
much for Seaforth.
Cameron tied the score 1-1 at
6:30 of the second period on an
unassisted goal, then was set up
beautifully by MacDonald and
Millar two minutes later to give
Clinton the lead. Early in the
third Cameron again was set up
on a passing play by Millar and
MacDonald. Randy Millar put in
one of his wicked shots by Ross
Gevier 40 seconds later. He was
set up by Cameron.
The game took a complete
turn around at this point with
Seaforth turning back with four
unanswered goals to go ahead 5
to 4. With only three minutes
left Rick Cameron put in a
rebound from a point shot by
Bill Irwin.
The winning goal was set up
by Irwin as well when he hit
Cameron with a pass up the
middle and Rick went in and put
the winner in with only 22
seconds left in the game. The
two goalieS, Ross Gevier and
Richard Welch played
tremendously and along with
Rick Cameron earned star
awards for their game.
Midgets
tie 3-3
Hensall scored two power
play goals in the third period to
wipe out a 3.1 lead and gave
Hensall a 3.3 tie and a tie for
first place in W.O.A.A. zone
competition.
Referees Dave Anstett and
Rick Fortune lowered the boom
on the Clinton club for their
persistence in rough play and for
using their sticks too Much.
Clinton was assessed eight
penalties in the third period,
Danny Colquhoun was set up for
three quick goals in the second
period by teammates Dave
Fawcett and Bill Crawford.
The Midgets met Seaforth
Wednesday night and travel to
Huron Park Saturday morning
fora 11:30 game.
Series. The boys have a chance
to move into fourth place with a
win over Grand Bend on
Tuesday night, February 23.
They travel to Seaforth
Wednesday night and finish with
two games in Adastral Park next
week.
A current story repeated by
the Ontario Safety League is
that some extraordinary looking
cars are now coming off the
assembly lines. Someone
dropped a rubber band into the
works' computer, and it is now
making snap decisions.
