Our only chance in W.O,A.A. competition remains with the
Midgets and they must win in Wingham Tuesday night. Some of the
referee's calls in the Midget game last Saturday night came a little
late in controlling the game.
The Pee Wees and Bantams are both returning to regular league
play with games this weekend. Mitchell will be here Thursday night
against the Pee Wees while Goderich visits here Sunday night at 7
o'clock.
This weekend the Bantams travel to Dearborn for two hockey
games and a visit to the Olympia on Saturday night to see Detroit
and Buffalo.
Keep the following two weekends open, February 25-28 and
March 4.7 to come out and see the Bantam Tournament. Some of
the top teams in Ontario have sent entries in to this growing
Tournament.

The epic battle of the season,
unfolded before the awestruck
eyes of CHSS fans. Undefeated
Mitchell challenged Central
Huron, who lost the season
opener to Goderich, in a senior
basketball game. Mitchell who
had previously upset the
undefeated Goderich was in first
place.
Central Huron tore into the
game with a vengeance. This
game, more than any other, had

SENIOR GIRLS DO IT AGAIN
For the second time this
school year the Senior Girls are
breaking records to bring home
pennants.
Earlier this year the Senior
Girls Basketball Team brought
the Huron-Perth pennant home
to CHSS. The girls prove to be
strong volleyball players also.
The last two matches in the
scheduled league games were
played in the CHSS gym last
Thursday. The girls were
challenged by a much-revered,
strong Goderich team and a
fast-moving Wingham team. The

The Shakespeare classes,

it they did!
With the dedicated -support
from the cheerleaders and fans,
Clinton out-ran, out-shot, and
out-rebounded their dangerous
opponents. Time after time
Mitchell would eat at Clinton's
lead, nibbling it down to six or
seven points. Again and again
Clinton struggled to pull away
with a safe lead.
Great rebounding by the big
men from Clinton dominated
the play. Shooting was hot as
Pete Cameron and Andre

girls from CHSS remained
undefeated by winning both the
Goderich and Wingham matches
in two games apiece. CHSS went

JUNIORS SHOW STRENGTH

St. Marys
Easy win over
BY ANDRE AMSING
Last Tuesday, St. Mary's
senior basketball team travelled
to Clinton for a league game.
After a weak start, marred by
many turn-overs in the first half,
the score was only 31-25 in
Clinton's favour. However,
CHSS let loose in the second
half and pulled way with a final
score of 76-45. High scorer for
the game was Pete Cameron with
23 followed by Dick Jewson
with nine, Rick Dubler and
Andre Amsing with eight apiece
and Paul Bartliff with seven.
Last game in the regular season
is Friday at Listowel.
Last Tuesday, the junior
Redmen met St. Mary's in a fine
effort. They came through with
a 56-35 win achieved by
out-hustling their opponents.
Dan Coiquhoun scored 18
against their larger rebounders,
respectively. Running through
plays with seemingly
experienced ease for vital points
amazed Mitchell, When the dust
had cleared, Clinton had won
63-50. This could have only
been done by the dedicated help
from the bench when the first
stringers were tired or in
foul-trouble,
Now a three way tie exists for
first place. Goderich had beaten
Clinton. Mitchell had beaten
Goderich and Clinton beat
Mitchell. Someone has a
problem!
Team were also challenged by
Goderich and Wingham on
Thursday. These matches were
scheduled for sometime in the
heart of the blizzard so they
were long overdue. The fact that
practices were scarce and far
apart might account for the few
missed serves and weak set-ups
on the part of all the teams.
Considering the circumstances
the Clinton girls played well and
defeated Wingham and Goderich
to take the lead in scheduled
conference play. The Juniors
will also enter the Huron-Perth
finals in top position, being
defeated by no one.
Congratulations to the girls
and their coach Mrs. Fraser and
good luck in the finals.
Wrestlers
show 'well
A small wrestling team from
CHSS travelled to Exeter last
Friday to represent their school
in the Huron-Perth competition.
Four of the wrestlers won first
place: Gary Potter, Steve Boyco,
Warren Knight and John Aiken.
Many times after school they
could be seen training for the
competition. The whole team
placed fourth due to insufficient
wrestlers to fill all the weight
classes. Good showing and
congratulations. Good luck in
the W.O.S,A,A, competition.
