LCOL 0. H. Hack,
Commandant, CFSIT„,anc1-7two
of his staff Capt.'L. P. Cassie and
Capt. T. W. Strang, took the
School's first major video tape
production to Training
Command Headquarters
recently.
Video Tape Recording (VTR)
has been in an experimental
phase at the School for about 18
months. Equipment evaluation
and experimental use under the
guidance of Captains "Ted"
Strang and "Larry" Cassie
occupied the majority of that
period.
In December last year a video
tape was produced that can be
used to outline the main features
of the training system, recently
introduced in the Canadian
Forces, and to show the role of
the CFSIT in qualifying training
staffs to help introduce the new
system into the Canadian
Forces. In addition, the
production shows the structure
and function of CFSIT in
training teachers, supervisors,
instructional programmers and
audiovisual aids specialists for
schools in the Canadian Forces:
Major General W. K. Carr,.
Commander, Training
Command, his senior staff
advisors and department heads
viewed the production at
Winnipeg. Since part of the
purpose of the presentation was
to evaluate the use of VTR in
military training, it was
gratifying to find that this first
use was so well received.
CFSIT plans to expand the
use of VTR in the future to
include classroom presentations,
assistance in evaluating practice
teaching, and other uses in
Military training as they are
developed.
LCOL Hack also presented
the briefing to a civilian
audience at the University of
Calgary. Dr. R. Wright, Dean of
the Faculty of Arts and Science,
his Deputy, Department Heads
and a group of graduate teaching
assistants viewed the taped
production.
The object of this
presentation was to show the
