father, the bride wore -a -
floorlength velvet gown of deep,
purple with semi-empire
waist-line, lash neeldine
trimmed with,, mauve
flowerettes, a large flowing bow
on the back and leg.o'-mutton
sleeves. Matching velvet ribbon
bows were woven in her hair and
silver shoes completed her
ensemble. She carried a bouquet
of one dozen yellow roses and
fern.
Attending the bride were
Misses Lynda Proctor, London
and Catherine Roberts, Kippen,
sister of the bride. They were
attired alike in floorlength dark
green velvet gowns trimmed with
mauve flowerettes matching the
bride's. They carried
long-stemmed yellow roses
inter-twined with green ferns.
Best man was Roy Mennell,
brother of the groom and ushers
were Jim Roberts, brother of the
bride and Paul McKellar,
Seaforth. Following the
ceremony, the wedding
reception was held in the parish
hall with the ladies of the church
catering. Receiving the guests,
the bride's mother wore a
winter-white dress trimmed with
silver and matching accessories.
The groom's mother wore a mint
green dress trimmed with gold
metalic and matching
accessories. They both wore
corsages of pink carnations. For
travelling, the bride wore a violet
polyester crepe dress topped
with a black lace vest and
matching accessories and a
corsage of yellow roses. The
happy couple will reside at 25
Orchard Street, London.
BRIDE-ELECT HONORED
Prior to her marriage the bride
was honoured by showers given
by nursing staff members of
Bethesda Hospital, London; and
a community shower at
Chiselhurst Church arranged by
Mrs. Rose Harris and Beatrice
Munn, A party was given in
honour of the bridal couple at
the home pf Mrs. K. Roberts and
H. Rawlings.

Carmel Presbyterian Church,
Hensall last Thursday at 2.00
p.m. with 13 members joining
and answering the roll call with a
New Year's resolution.
President Mrs. R. A. Orr
mentioned the Huron
Presbyterial Annual meeting to
be held in this church with W.
M. S. and Arnold Circle as
hostesses on Wednesday,
January 27 at 2 p.m, and all
ladies of the church are welcome
to attend.
Study and devotional was
given by Mrs. Harvey Hyde and
those assisting were Mrs. Harold
Bell and Mrs. Harry Snell. The
1971 study is on "Get the Word
Around".
A letter from a missionary of
India, Miss Margaret Kennedy
was read by Mrs. Gordon
Schwalm. All members
contributed to the "Least Coin"
box.
Next meeting will be held on
Thursday February 11 at 2 p.m.
with Mrs. Gordon Troyer and
Mrs. Clarence Volland giving the
study and devotion. The
president also reminded all, of
the church annual meeting to be
held on January 27 at 8 p.m.

Mrs. Milton Russell of Hensall
passed away in St. Josephs
Hospital, London, Friday
January 15 where she had been
admitted as a patient that week.
The former Mary Clara
Dunsford, she was in her 88th
year,
Surviving are her husband,
one son, Homer, R. R. 1, Exeter,
four daughters, Isabel, Mrs. Don
Wilson, Tucson, Arizona;
Margaret, Mrs. Leroy Coleman,
Blenheim; Mrs. Irene

Church,decorated with
poinsettas, garlands of
evergreens and lighted
candelabra, was the setting for
the marriage of Sharon Lynne
Faber and Patrick Joseph
McCann.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and, Mrs, Cornnelius Faber,
R. R. 3, Exeter, and Mr. and
Mrs, Lawrence McCann, li„ It. 3,
Dashwood, are parents of the
groom, Rev. J. G. Mooney
officiated at the ceremony. and
Paul Dietrich furnished the
music and accompanied the
soloist Mrs. Robert Hoffinan,
Dashwood. Given in marriage by
her father, the bride wore a
floorlength gown of snow white
velvet styled with an A-line skirt,
stand up ring Roller and puffed
sleeves cuffed in wrist length.
Her Mantilla veil was of a sheer
bridal netting flowing in a train
and edged in white maribou. She
carried a pink poinsetta
surrounded by white carnations
and stephanotis.
Attending the bride were the
Misses Margaret Salmon, Exeter;
Lynda Blanchard, London;
Helen McCann, Dashwood, sister
Of the groom; and Patricia Anne
Faber, sister of the bride,
Exeter. They were gowned alike
in cranberry knit -Itelvet
floorlength dresses with
matching rope woven in their
hair. Tiny rosebuds were
attached to black velvet 'clinkers
and they carried white maribou
muffs.
The junior attendants were
Margaret Boyd, niece of the
bride, junior bridesmaid and
Mary-Jo McCann, sister of the
groom as flower girl. They wore
floorlength off-white crepe
dresses trimmed with cranberry
velvet collar, bows and ties to
the hemline. They carried
nosegays of pink carnations.
Best man was Dan McCann, R.
R. 3, Dashwood and ushers were
Pat McKeever, Steve Faber
brother of the bride, and Jerry
and Larry McCann, brothers of
the groom. Bill McCann was ring
bearer.
After a reception in
Dashwood Community Centre
the bridal couple left for a
honeymoon in Northern
Ontario. The bride travelled in a
black and yellow costume with
corsage of yellow roses, Mr. and
Mrs. McCann will make their
home in Mount Carmel.

Palliate of Bayfield held a

by Mrs. Ron Merner and Miss
Margaret Salmon at the formers
home in Dashwood and by staff
members of J. A. 11 McCurdy
school at the home of Mrs. Don
Ballantyne, Huron Park. The
bride is a niece of Miss Mettle
Ellis.
George Frayne was elected
president of the Hensall South
Huron Agricultural Society
during an annual meeting held hi
Hensall Saturday afternoon.
Other offices are first
vice-president, Larry Merner;
second. Vice- president, Grant
McGregor; secretary treasurer, F.
D. McNaughton. The society

Mr. JOhn Bryan Limit, eldest
tort of Mr. and Mrs. John
Lavin, Clinton, has
successfully tornpleted the
Ontario Insurance Agent's
Association course of study
at Queens University,
Kingston, Having obtained his
licenses he is now permitted
to sell all classes of insurance
other than Life.
Bryan attended both
elementary and high school in
Clinton and after graduating,
attended the University of
Western Ontario for a time
before joining the staff of the
London Life Insnrance
Company. He is now married
with tme son and he and his
wife Carol have both been
employed at London Life for
the past four years.
Bryan has taken over the
operation of the Insurance
Agency established in 1024
by the late Miss E. Levis and
presently one of the oldest
established Agencies in the
County.

The Ladies Aid of Carmel
Presbyterian Church held their
first meeting of the New Year
Thursday January 14 with Mrs.
Clarence Volland presiding.

The Kinette Club of Hensall
met at the home of Mrs, Gary
Maxwell, Zurich for the first
meeting of the New Year. Guest
for, the evening was Mrs.
Murray Bell. Plans were
discussed regarding the club's
assistance with the Kinsmen
National Convention to be herd
in London in August and for the
annual March of Dimes to be
held Monday, February 1 at 7
p.m. A donation was made to
the local association of Guiding ,
for their new camp.
Mrs. Leonard Hoffman was
presented with her Kinette Pin
and by-laws and welcomed to
the club as their newest member.
Chiselhurst United Church
Women had a pot luck dinner
and quilting in connection with
their meeting. Mrs. Russell
Brock, president, opened the
meeting with a New Year's
message and a poem "King's.
Gift". Mrs. Jack Brintnell gave
the worship "Hasty Judgement",
Mrs. Clarence Coleman, Mrs. J,
Brintnell and Mrs. Alvin Cole
gave a short skit, Roll call was
answered by a Christmas gift
received.
It was decided to send money
to Miss Nicol in memory of
Lucille Spading. Mrs. Thos.
Brintnell introduced the new
study book on "The Americas".
Mrs. George Boa had the
program. The meeting closed
with the benediction.
Unit 1 met Thursday_
afternoon, January 14 at 2 p.m,
Mrs. Robert Cook, the new unit
leader presided. The devotional
was entitled "Stewardship of
Time", followed by two poems
suitable for the New Year. Mrs.
Walter Spencer introduced the
new study book for this year on
the Americas. The minutes of
the previous meeting were read
and 14 girls paid membership
fees.
A very successful euchre party
was held in the 1. 0. 0. P. Lodge
Hall Thursday January 14 with
13 tables in play and sponsored
by C. P. T. committee. Winners

their January meeting January
13 with president Mrs. James
McAllister presiding. Roll call

contribution to. the Tweedsmuir
History Book. Mrs. Carl Payne

appointed a committee to visit
the sick and shutins for the
coming month.
A motion was passed to
continue sponsoring the 4.H
club. A donation was made to
the local association of Guides
and Brownies for the Camp
Building Fund at Goderich. A
euchre is planned for February
10. Mrs. McAllister chaired the
prOgram which opened with a
sing-song and a reading by Mrs.
Wilbert Dilling (Stay for
Supper).
Miss Greta Laramie on her
tape recorder played memories
of Mrs. Harris, (Irma Rennie)
early days in Hensall.
Mrs. T. J. Sherritt read a
poem "The Parlour Organ" with
soft music accompaniment by
Miss Lammie. The history of
Rogerville was presented by Mrs.
Robert Simpson. Mrs. T.
Brintnell read newspaper
clippings of the past provided by
Miss M. Ellis. Mrs. J. Corbett
gave courtesy remarks, Program
convenors were Mrs, Grace Peck,
Miss M. Ellis, Mrs.. Simpson.
Hostesses were Mrs. Clarence
Reid and Mrs. Fred Weer.

ceremony of Margaret Marian
Roberts, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. E. J. Roberts, Kippen and
Robert Charles Mennell, son of

Anglican Church, London,
January 15, 1971 at 7.30 p.m.
