The general trend seemed that Clinton was running and scoring when they pleased, The second line spent lunch of the game on the floor sharpening their skills. At the beginning of the game the CHSS first line easily put on 15 points within three minutes and let the second line take over. Pete Cameron scored 19 points in the short while he took to the floor. Dick Jewson got 8 and Dave Aiken 7 in the 52-31 victory. The basketball Redmen, who usually have a balanced attack with four or five men doing their scoring, had to depend on one man for their points and, despite the heroics of Pete Cameron, it just wasn't enough. They dropped the first game of the regular schedule in a 57-49 upset to Goderich Vikings. It was a stunning reversal for the Redmen who were winners of the Huskie Basketball Tournament in Stratford during the Christmas season and were rated as one of the best teams in the Huron-Perth Conference. They had the answer for every tactic the Redmen threw at them and combined with a lethargic attack, inaccurate shooting and sloppy rebounding by the Clinton squad, it was enough to turn the tables. Redmen put themselves in the hole in the first half when Goderich pushed to a 28-17 halftime lead. They came back stronger in the third quarter and twice closed to within seven points only to see Goderich pull away again. They trailed 40-32 at three-quarter time. It was the same story in the final quarter when they would draw close, then blow chances week schools took part in the program. This year's schedule is even larger, as more and more young people look towards computing as a career field. Past experience has shown that about 15 per cent of the students had already mastered a working knowledge of some computer language and could be considered advanced. These students are separated into a special group for a short briefing on how to run FORTRAN programs on the university's System/360 computer and are then free to run programs for most of the da)..
