Work had been scheduled to be completed by the first of the year Municipal reform INDIRECT ELECTION 1. Representatives to county or regional council be the heads of the member municipalities and those additional members required to meet the representation needs of each municipality. 2. County and regional councillors run at large in their local municipality and hold office on the local council as well as the county or regional council. 3. Permissive legislation be introduced which would enable a municipality to elect its regional or county councillors on a ward basis. (Council recommended that this clause be referred back to the ACRO Study Committee for clarification.) TERM OF OFFICE 1. Financial incentives be provided by the province for municipalities to amalgamate. — Council did not concur. 4. The province share in the cost of hiring consultants by the municipalities to conduct local studies. — Council concurred provided any grants are made retroactive to include counties already undertaking a planning program. 5. A study committee be named by ACRO to prepare a brief on fiscal reform for presentation to the 1971 Annual Meeting. — Council recommended this matter be discussed at the mid-term meeting of the Association. BY MILLIE (MiLENA) LOBB The holidays are over and all the students are back to school — much to their disappointment the expected heavy snowfall didn't happen Sunday night. The weather was ideal for those who had to travel over the holiday. Mr. and Mrs. Irvine Tebbutt and Marilyn left December 24 for St. Catharines to spend Christmas with Gerry Tebbutt and family. They returned home on Boxing Day. Jack and Norene Tebbutt and Gary made the trip to St. Catharines for Christmas Day also. On Boxing Day Norene's father, mother and several of the Malloughs and their families were guests at the Tebbutt house. The Don Lobb family had three days of Christmas this year. On the 25th the Mervyn Lobb family gathered at Don's; on the 26th Don, Alison, Steve, David and Robin went to Toronto to spend the day with Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Allen; the 27th was spent with the Alf Plumber family in Oshawa. BiII Lobb's fancily started Christmas early this year when they went to Kincardine on December 20 for a Christmas dinner at the home of Mrs. Kathleen Cuyler. Harry and Shirley Lobb and boys of Toronto and Mrs. Fred Lobb gathered at the Bill Lobb .house to celebrate on Coxing Day. Mr. and Mrs. Cannan Tebbutt spent Christmas Day with Mrs. Wilfred Biggin n f i i n of Clinton. Boxing Day, Lew and tabs Tebbutt and family of Woodstock were guests at Carman's. Murray and Marlene Forbes and girls spent the 25th at the home of Mt. and Mrs. Watt Forbes, Clinton. The R. E. Thompson family celebrated oil Christmas Day with the Orville Workman family of Kippen. Guests at the Murray Biggin house Christmas Day were some of the Fear family of Blyth. Murray, Phyllis and family spent Boxing Day with the W. L. Biggins in London. Bruce Lobb's family were at Don's for Christmas Day and spent Boxing Day at the hocne of 114r, and Mrs. Hank Gelling, Hohnesville. Alvin, Linda and Lana Jones spent the 25th at Linda's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Papple, Seaforth and the Jones family gathered at Alvin's on the 26th. Mr. Herb Oakes of Clinton and Mr. Bill McKown of Orillia were Christmas Day visitors at the Harry Oakes home, Mel and Harriette Klazinga, Jimmy, Annette and Bryan went to Goderich to Harriette's parents for Boxing Day. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Merrill and family spent Christmas Day with George and Marian Colclough and falnily. Lorne and Harriette Tyndall and family had their Christmas dinner at the Alf Hudie home and then went to the Roy Tyndall home for supper. Mrs. William Reuger was able to be holne from the hospital to spend both Christmas and New Year's with her family. Mr, and Mrs. Bill Johnson and Kerry of Toronto spent a few days at their home on the lint. Brian Lobb, Jamie and Peter Thompson left on December 27 with the hockey teams for Clinton, N.Y. They returned on emb er 29, Tuesday, Det b Mr, and Mrs. Murray Forbes entertained several of the Jervis relatives at their home on Tuesday, December 29. Don and Marilyn Forbes and family were at Cliff Ashton's for New Year's Day, The Murray Forbes family were at the home of Mr, and Mrs. Bill Landsborough, Clinton. Guests at the home of Jack Tebbutt's for New Year's Day were Miss Lois Wright and Mr. Paul Dockstader. DECEMBER 28, 1970 The annual Christmas program provided by the Seaforth Lions Club was held in the auditorium on Sunday, December 20. The musical program consisted of a chorus by 30 club members with several numbers by the quartet, The Kinsmen and Kinettes of Clinton were conducted through Huronview by Mrs. C. Archibald on Sunday evening singing Christmas Carols for the residents. The Christmas music has been enjoyed and appreciated by everyone at Huronview. The auditorium was filled to capacity on December 21 for the 75th annual Christmas Concert. The program with the residents taking the various parts included readings, solos, men and women's chorus, selections by the orchestra, tap dancing and a skit "An Old Fashioned Christmas." Following a visit from Santa Claus 200 residents gathered in the dining room for a Christmas Supper. The dining room and tables were decorated especially for Christmas and the residents enjoyed having supper together which included Christmas cake and cookies. A special bingo was held in the Craftroom on Thursday afternoon with Christmas treats for prizes. The weekly dance held in thi auditorium on Mondai afternoon has proven to be th( favorite amusement for the residents. We hope th' attendance will increase in th New Year. Charles Jackson wit his mouth organ has joined th orchestra. A progressive euchre was hel in the auditorium on Wednesda afternoon with nine table playing. Mrs. Irwin and Mis Dougall tied the score for th ladies high with Mrs, Irwi winning the draw for the priz Men's high prize won by Joh McNichol with Miss McLaughla and Mark Sproat consolatio winners. The prize for the eldes lady playing euchre was won b Mrs. Mary Taylor, 93, with M Miller Adams, 93, the eldes man. Mr. Cecil Skinner and hi group of Exeter provided th Family program last Thursda afternoon. The variety progran consisted of vocal numbers readings, instrumentals with th Huronview Orchestra.
