BANTAMS
The Fish and Garners played
their best game of the season in
their thrilling 3.2 victory over
Goderich.
Delude MacDonald received a
clearing pass from John Graham,
broke between the two
defensemen, and pulled the
goalie for the game's first goal in
the first period and the only one
until Goderich opened the third
period with two quick goals at
1:08 and 1:40.
Goalie Dean Ryan, subbing
for Richard Welch, played
exceptionally, except for the
second Goderich goal. He then
tightened up and made three or
four key saves late in the period.,:
Randy Millar tied the score
2,2 with a wicked shot from
right wing at 11:15. Daimie
MacDonald and Steve Cook'
started the play with two quick
passes, then MacDonald fired a
rink-wide pass to Millar.
Thirty-four seconds later, Steve
Cook put a perfect pass-from
centre to Millar, who streaked in
around the Goderich defense,
and pulled the goalie out.
Clinton Juniors started into
their final 10 games of the

by travelling to Lambeth to play ;

On Friday night when they

road trip and will return home
Sunday to play Belmont with

Juniors need hot streak to nail down playoff spot
the teams they most need to
beat is Belmont.
The Juniors have always been
Much stronger at home than
they have been on the road and
'Starting this weekend they need
to prove it. When they come
home on Sunday they will have
eight games left to play, five of
them at home.
Included in those five home
dates are two against Belmont
who presently hold down fifth
place in the league and are on a
hot streak that has carried them
up past Clinton and Mitchell.
Belmont continued the streak
Saturday night when they
dumped the Juniors 4-3 on
their home ice.
Included in the last home
stand is a game against Mitchell,
now tied with Clinton in sixth
place (and the last playoff spot),
and one against last place
Hensall-Zurich. Clinton also
plays Mitchell twice in Mitchell.
They desparately need to get hot
now.
If the Juniors return to form
with their fast-skating, checking
offence there is little doubt they
can grab a playoff spot and
make a good showing in the
playoffs. Of course if they insist
on trying to throw their weight
around, they will continue to get
thumped.
Saturday night they collected
18 penalties to Belmont's 11.
Three of the four Belmont goals
were scored with Clinton
shorthanded.
Belmont scored twice in the
first period, both on powerplays
with Don McPherson scoring the
first and Ed Landon scoring the
second. Ron Graham got Clinton
back in the game again in the
second with a pair of goals at
one minute and 16:45. Bill
Crawford drew assists on both
goals and Jim Cameron assisted
in the first goal.
But behnont went ahead
again at 6:41 of the third when
Landon scored again. At 11:28
Landon set up McPherson for
the eventual winner.
Stu Mustard came back at
19:20 with the final Clinton goal
from Ron Henry and Bill
Stirling.
