Robert Rae, which t occurred early Monday morning of. last week, saddened nany friends in this, community vhere she had been an esteemed resident for more than thirty years. They came to Lucknow in the spring of 1921, when Mr. Rae and his nephew, W. A. Porteous, took oyer the hardware business of McLeod and Joynt, , Mrs,. Rae was formerly Hazel Edwards Porter, daughter of Wm. Porter and Margaret Edwards of Downie Township in Perth Co., Avhere she was 'born on April 9th, 1893, being in her ’62nd year at the time of-her death. Mr. and Mrs. Rae were' mar­ ried on March 17th, 1915, and farmed in. the St. Marys district until coming^ to Lucknow six years, later. z Mrs. Rae was a faithful mem­ ber of the Lucknow United Church and devoted to the work of the women’s organizations as her health permitted. She was a past secretary of the Women’s Association. - During the past year she had enjoyed comparatively good health, until stricken with a heart condition several weeks ago. She ‘ of Toronto. had returned home recently with the hope, that she might conval­ esce sufficiently to permit going south for a winter vacation and health restorative. However, re­ current heart spells increased the gravity of her condition, although the final seizure was unexpected­ ly sudden. ’ . , • The remains rested at the fam­ ily residence on Havelock Street, where score upon score of friehds called to pay their respects, and where a private funeral service was held on Wednesday after­ noon, Decemlber 15th, conducted by Rev. G; A- Meiklejofen,™______ Interment was in Greenhill Cemetery., The pallbearers were J. L. MacMillan, W. L. MacKen- zie, Wilfred Anderson, George Elliott, Ralph Elliott and J,' Joynt. Mrs. Rae is survived by her husband and one .daughter, Mar­ garet, at home. Surviving also, are three ^isters, Mrs. Ruby Mills of London, Mrs. Mae Ingram of Strafford, Mrs. Edgar Lany of Detroit and two brothers,' Albert Porter of St. Marys, George Por­ ter of Barrie. ---------———— She was predeceased by three sisters, Mrs. Edith Dunaman of Stratford, Mrs. Annie Miller of St. Marys and Mrs. Edgar Clarke WEDNESDAY, DE£> 22nd, 1954 ' ' I S§ 5 4.
