A well attended concert was
presented by the pupils of Zion
.School with a very interesting
program on Tuesday night, -De
cember 14th in Zion Hall under
the direction of their teacher,
Mrs. Frank Ritchie. The accom
panist was Mrs, Simpson; The
program consisted of choruses,
“Jolly Christmas/’ “Christmas in
Killarney, “Hard Rock, Coco and
Joe”, “He’ll be coming down the
Chimney”, by the school; dia
logues were “Fisherman’s Luck”
by Evans Helm, Ken Gardner,
Ken Kirklarid; “Here comes the
Bride”’. by Barry .. McDonagh,
Chris Raynard, Evans Helm, Don
ald Kirkland; other dialogues
were .“What Christmas Means”,
“bargain Day at the Gallery”
and a fashion parade; recitations
were given by Ronald Gardner,
Larry Hunter, Lloyd Reid, Anne
Ritchie; pantomime, “New'sboy.
Tim”; Frog Pond Journal by
Evans Helm; dances by Juniors
and . Seniors in costumes and a
solo by Elaine Cook; three inter
esting numbers were given by
Zion’s^,men’s ’quartette, Charlie
Anderson, John Ritchie, Jim Hun
ter, Bill Hunter. Santa came to
unload the Christmas tree. Lunch
was served at the conclusion of
the program.

Zion Sunday School Christmas
concert was held on December
7th in Zion Church. An interest
ing program was, given during
which pupils were presented with
diplomas and aeals according to

Miss Roberta Helm entertained
some of her girl friends on Fri
day evening at her birthday
party. •
Mrs. Jim Hunter and daughter
Wancja returned home Sunday
from WinghamHospital where
they were ill with pneumonia for
the past\ten days.

Mr. and Mrs. Grant Wall with
an attendance of 15. 'The topic,
“Getting started”, was well dis
cussed, with most young farmers,
the farmer’s sqns, receiving help
from their father and as often
as possible using * is machinery.
Some come under the' V.L.A,,
while others look to the govern
ment’- or private citizens for help.
In other. cases father^ and son
form a partnership, The best way

is to buy second hand machinery,
exchange work and rent a farm
at first. In any case it means
long hours of hard work. A re
creation period followed and the
hostess served lunch.
Mrs. Walter Hodgins, who had
resided in this community until
a few years ago, passed . away
in the Kitchener-Waterloo Hos
pital. Several. from the commun
ity attended the funeral on Sat
urday at the Walker funeral
home. Wingham, with burial in
Greenhill Cemetery, The com
munity extends sympathy to the
family.”
Mrs. Rosser and Lorraine of
Auckland, New Zealand and Mr,
Jack, McGuire of the 2nd Con. of
Huron, visited Tuesday evening
with Mr. and- Mrs. Frank Brown
and Rog. Mrs. Brown has had
a pen pal out in New Zealand
for over forty-five years, so the
ladies had a Yery_enjpyable ev
ening. ■ . • ■'
