He polled 342 votes to Mr, Dore’s 336. John MacDonald headed the poll for eouhcillor with 456 votes, followed by Alfred Walden, 396; John Campbell, 390;; ansd John McMurchy, 381. The unsuccessful candidate was Russell Collins -with—361~^vot es; ^ The. leading councillor, better known as Jack “Dofy” MacDon­ ald, is ,a brother of Mrs. Wilfred Hackett of Ashfield. It was his first bid for a municipal seat.
